Ok - this is completely pointless - but whatever.

Shaun Grigg's playing OK this year. (Not getting enough hit-outs:cool:). But he's kicked 9 goals in 9 games. Not bad for a mid.
But this is interesting: :drunk:

His last 4 goals have all come in the first minute of quarters.
Against Collingwood, 2 goals - at the 16-second mark of the 2nd quarter, and the 1-minute mark of the 3rd.
Against Essendon, 2 goals - at the 1-minute mark of the 3rd quarter (including 30 secs lining up the shot), and at the 20-second mark of the last.
Has anybody ever kicked 4 goals so early in quarters even in a season - let alone 4 in a row?
Maybe whatever he's on is wearing off after the first minute or so..........

Now to make it more interesting -
3 of the first 4 goals he kicked in the season were during time-on in quarters - including 3 in a row (one v Carlton, 2 v Brisbane).
He decided to switch to early quarter goals after that, because he kicked his goal against Geelong at the 3-minute mark of the last, then decided 'Naah, I can do better than that!'.

So 9 goals for the season - 3 in a row during time-on of quarters, then 4 in a row in the first minute of quarters. These are the minute-marks for his goals- 18, 29, 25, 29, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1.

Is he just sitting on the bench from the 5-minute to the 25-minute mark? Maybe that's how we should use him?

(Next week - how the height Richmond players wear their socks at affects their %DE............................)

Very observant work Wallaby. I hadn't noticed, and bet that few others had. Not sure it tells us anything meaningful, as you say, but there might be something buried under the observation.

After that analysis, can you run your slide-rule over the % of shots that score goals, before and after the height of the goal posts was changed. You might have heard Richo saying on the podcast that the goal posts look closer together, because now they're taller? Sounds silly, but Richo doesn't usually just sprout shit. I want numbers to settle it, one way or another.

The goal-post thing is 100% correct, the taller they are the more narrow the opening looks

They do look narrower from a distance, so I'm open minded. And it is coming from Richo, so there's another tick on the pros side of the argument for me. But jeez, it does have the sound of something that could just be total bullshit. I'd love to see the actual numbers of goal kicking accuracy the 3 season before they were made taller, and the 3 after. (Have we had 3 since they made 'em taller? Maybe 2?)

But I'm happy to wait for the numbers until after Wal's work on the cause and effect relationship between the height of socks and the %DE.

If you look really closely, you'll see this information contains something very interesting - this week's powerball numbers
