I think the 2nd part of your sentence points to the fact that the 1st part of your sentence is overly critical.

It wasn't being overly critical. I was saying he has yet to show much, not meaning it in a critical sense. Just the fact he has been injured for so long means he has had limited chances to show anything. But it will possibly play a part in what moves GWS decide to make. Probably could have worded it better.

What number pick does everyone think Boyd will go at? Who has shown intereset in Boyd? GWS wont need him.

Assuming they do not trade pick one to another team for a bunch of players. Personally I cannot see him going past pick one. As much as people say GWS already have Patton and Cameron, premium key position forwards are hard to come by, and you cannot have to many. With Patton injury prone, Boyd could be seen as working along side Cameron as GWS one two punch. He is even rated a better prospect than both. Even if Patton gets over his injury issues, who is to say he will definitely be a gun simply because he is a big tall forward? It is still hit and miss like all young draftees. They could possibly use Patton to lure in experienced players or another high pick. Or keep for extra depth, or move Cameron into defense as he said he'd be willing to do. GWS have enough developing midfielders for the time being and wont draft there. They probably do need a key defensive player the most as well, but none are worth being pick one this year.

However, if he does not get picked at pick one. He wont go past pick four. Melbourne might be tempted, as will St Kilda. But both teams really need midfielders more than anything, and Melbourne already have some solid young talls and Hogan coming through. Saints will be tempted with Reiwoldt nearing the end of his career. And the Bulldogs probably need a key forward more than anything.

As for who has shown interest? Nothing solid has been mentioned anywhere but a couple of Big Footy rumors. We will all know early on during trade week if something comes along. No doubt teams will talk with GWS and see if they are willing to put pick 1 on the table, and what it may cost them to get it. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Also if they do get Franklin, then it is possible they may pass on Boyd altogether. But even then, they could still take him if they feel potential and talent outweighs the others. They will be well armed on the trade table in the future with all the excess KPP.

There's no way Boyd doesn't go at #1.

Either GWS will extract a gun plus later first rounder to trade him, or they'll take him at #1. It's just good asset management.

I don't think Boyd, Patton, Franklin, Cameron works in the one forward line, but it doesn't need to. They might send one back, or they'll just play whichever 3 are fit each week and trade the other next year. There never won't be a market for buying a guy like that. GWS will get their gun midfielder (or a Kreuzer or something) at some stage.

With Franklin off to Sydney, will it now be an almost formality that GWS draft Boyd? Or could GWS still be swayed to trade the #1 pick for a gun established mid (or 2)?

I think someone from GWS mentioned today that they are quiet comfortable with what they have now in Patton and Cameron, and say that they still want to give Patton a chance to show what he is capable of and that they have faith in him. Said that they are still open to trading pick one away to try and secure experienced players. Though they will talk to him anyways and could still easily steer that way.
