Re: Tom Collier

Wonder if we'll look at throwing him a rookie list lifeline like we did when we de-listed McCullogh, especially with X Clarke knocking it back. Wouldn't surprise me with this years draft depth.

Either way, best of luck Tom :thumbsu:
Hope they do too. Still feel he has more to show. All the best Tom:thumbsu:

Smart decision - Tom was never going to make it as an AFL player.

He was my most maligned player since Dylan McLaren, so while I wish him the best with his future, I'm wrapped that the Club has made this decision.

"It didn't come out of left field, it was a possibility, I was expecting it a little bit," Collier, 22, said.
"It is just disappointing. I had a couple of chats with him (coach Michael Voss) but it is just the way the system goes. I've been in there for four years and haven't played regular senior footy."
"I did what I could and did my best, I played good footy at the reserves level and I think it is a bit of consistency.
"I did play some good games and played some average sort of games as well.
"That's the way it went. I would have liked to have played regular footy and played a few more in a row but that's the way it goes."
Despite his axing, he was full of praise for Voss and the Lions.
The 192cm, 86kg defender plans to nominate for this month's National Draft, and the pre-season and rookie draft in December.

According to this Collier has not nominated for the draft.

Hmm, wonder if he's had a chat to a club about PSD/Rookie drafts. Seems odd a young player who obviously thinks he has a lot of footy ahead of him wouldn't nominate.

They've already given his number to Ben Hudson, which suggests to me that he isn't going to be with us in any capacity.

CENTRAL District will welcome AFL experience, a touch of Tassie and a familiar name for the 2012 season. Ben Nason returns after two years with Richmond in the AFL and will be joined by ex-Brisbane Lions' defender Tom Collier.

Collier, 22, hopes to be able to pass on the experience he gained in the AFL to the younger players.
"I just want to have a good year of footy and hopefully help the boys to get up there again," Collier says.
"The SANFL's a good standard of footy and you obviously want to play the best standard of footy outside the AFL."
