I found his commentary on his reviews a bit self-serving i.e. my partner helped me make all those decisions to review. It was clear he was always looking for any reason to review and if his partner said 'maybe' that was more than enough for him.

His intensity definitely gave the impression of petulance i.e. the runout at the G with Katich and dismissing Gayle in Adelaide.

Good article, enjoyed it. Remember when he made 150 opening in a 1 dayer absolute beast of a performance.

That was the first ODI after the depression that was the Ashes that summer, absolutely carried us to the total England posted. He handled himself pretty well that test series too plenty of his usual 50's (which was good and frustrating in equal measure).

As a fan he didn't capture me in the likeability stakes as much as say other guys of the era like Hussey did, but did respect him right the way through as could see the effort he put in to being the best he could be. Nice to see him develop into such a universally respected statesman of the game as he has after all the stick he;s copped, I bet Mitch Marsh ends up in that same category at the end when it's all close to said and done people don't realise what they were missing.
