Huge volcanic eruption in Tonga today. Now threats of a tsunami. Tsunami warning issued. Lord Howe Island has received an evacuation order.

Hopefully more precautionary but please keep alert for more information.

Warnings issue as far as eastern mainland of Australia.

My wife and I were standing on the beach in Thailand in 2004 when the Tsunami rolled in. We ran 12 yards and my wife with turns to me and says "I have a stitch". I thought she was making a poorly timed joke before I realised she was serious. A simple "just keep running and we can argue later".

To this day I wonder if she wanted to stop and stretch it out as the tsunami was bearing down.
