Want to get some lively discussion going on about his because the longer this plays out the more perplexing it is becoming .

I am not an overly politically knowledgable soul ... so i will stand corrected if i have mis-construed anything ... but i thought that you more or less had to be elected to a board ?

How is it that Tony Free was just placed in there ? ... Obviously there is a legallity that permits this but i would be grateful to have this explained to me.

...And i would like this explained to me .... what achievements are listed in Freezers CV that would see him thrown onto the board and be placed in such a position of responsibilty as to review the whole football dept. of the RFC ...

Has he ever coached ?

Has he ever been involved at AFL level .. us included ... in a productive off-field role ?

Am i not the only one who is finding this more and more disturbing ?

Don`t get me wrong ... Miller off the board was a positive step ... but thrown straight out the door ?

I can understand what the club is doing , i am all for TW and the football dept. being held more accountable than they have up until now ... but don`t you think if the club was being completely honest and up-front about thier intentions they would have brought in a highly experienced and completely neutral figure to perform this role ?

A lot more questions than answers for mine.

In the words of Bruce ...."Does anyone else get the feeling" that if we did not win another game this year the board would not be overly concerned ? ...;)

You don't have to be politically savvy to smell a rat, ID. And I'm with you as well. I don't like it that someone purporting to be Tony Free came out and said the things he did about disliking Wallace and co, even if the club have denied he was the poster on that website.
If it smells like a rat, more than likely it is.

But what gets me is this has been an evolving event from a couple of years ago. It wasn't born this year, but a couple of years ago when Wallace had barely walked in the joint.

Now if you wanna make a case that after this year he hasn't been good enough, well you might be able to convince me.

But knowing something has been happening for a while now, makes me think, they didn't give Wallace a chance and for what reason I want to know.

There's been lots of leaks. Well, that has to stop right now, but it's not. There are a lot of big mouths around our club.

We have to be a lot more professional than the way we handled the Miller affair, whether they were right or wrong in sacking him, and we have to be more professional and run a very tight closed ship in the future. We have as much hope of this happening as me becoming the next RFC coach.

Yep, I'm worried too. More than worried actually. I'd be very happy if we are successful as a result of all this. But I'll equally be very pissed off if people come in and upset the applecart and put us back 20 years again.

my understanding is that anyone that comes onto the board midstream is subject to an election at the immediate AGM...I've said it once and I'll say it again for the most part board members are window dressing....they are bought in for thier connections in corporate circles and on football to appease the masses. It's down to the quality of the Prez and CEO steering the ship that will realise success or failure...Does anyone here of any credit beyond Costa and Cook or durinf essendons reign it was mcmahon and jackson, Hawthorn are powering along under Kennet and ????...the common thread is no-one would ****en well know who the board members are and they dont call the shots

Yep, well said Froars.

Here we were up to our arses in debt and battling to give the football dept the resources they required (needed twice as badly as any other club considering how low we'd sunk prior to Wallace's appointment), and coterie groups are talking about fronting up a truckload of cash to buy out Wallace's contract and appoint Sheedy.

How ****ing low can you go eh?

"Here's $X000,000, it's all yours, we can afford it, but only if you sack another coach and let us appoint a man whose talent spotting abilities have deteriorated to a point where he's just been thrashed by thousands of women, children, pets and household appliances in Super Coach, and has a poor recent head to head record against the coach we want to sack"

I'm surprised half these blokes can even find their way to the MCG.

And just to answer your question re. board appointments ID, yes, Bo is 100% on the mark AFAIK - can be appointed without election to replace someone leaving the board, but have to be up for election next AGM.

Bumped into Che Cockatoo Collins one nite at the Treasury. He said that when he played the only player who was respected on the field at Richmond was Tony Free. Well if that's the case, I just hope he listens and learns and stops shooting his mouth off.

Board - "What can you bring to this football club Tony?"

Tony - " Juice.....the best juice in the land!

Board - "Okay ur hired!!!"

There was an anti Wallace poster on this board about a year or year and a half ago who claimed to have played for Richmond (some seventy odd games I think from memory) and had some insight into the place.

He was shot down unmercifully as no one here was wanting to write Wallace off. Unusual that he hasnt returned given he would have more allies now.

Love to see him and Sassegum go for it.

Super Coach?!? That's what constitutes a good footballer? Getting Super Coach points???

Freezer was tough as nails, a real mongrel. I reckon we could do with a bit of that, on and off field.
I for one, could not give a rat's arse if we won another meaningless game this year. In fact if we lose all three we're more likely to pick up a Ziebell, Hartlett or Hurley, so I say sack Wallace now, install a patsy who'll play all the kids and add another gun youngster in November.

Wont get him on the field anymore which means you only have him on the other side of the fence which requires the intellect to kick in over tesoterone.

Dermott on the board of Hawthorn anyone????????? Shit even Frawleys toughness on the field couldnt be questioned.

in short, the fact he was tough on the field isnt a CV for mine unless you have a job within the football department.

Being a sledgehammer personality just doesnt cut it. Who believes Mal Brown was responsible for Northey leaving and getting stuck with Walls.

Strange he hasnt returned with a bit of "I told you so".

He was blasted by everyone but a few might see his side of the story now.

Bloody curious but then again more like a BS artist. Did we ever find out which one of our luminaries he was. Speech wasn't slurred enough to be Free.

I think he was an assistant coach or Ressie coach when Gieshan was coach. May of been coach of Res Premiership side '97?
Actually ... would you believe i think our Ressies coach that year was Geelongs current mid-field coach Brendan Mc Carthy...(will stand corrected) ...Coached Ocean Grove to 4-5 flags in a row in the early 90`s

Point taken and thanks for clearing that up .

But my main point of interest is his bona fide credantials to be appointed with the role of investigating our whole football dept. with the view of a total overhaul .

That is the scary part

More BS artist Vid ...

Was making his calls early in Ploughs third year , totally irrelevent at the time and off the mark.

His only great coaching move was in the 1995 semi when I think he was sitting in with the coaching panel.
He suggested moving Scotty Turner at half time.
Good move that one :thumbsu:

Was with Bobby Phillips, ex director and a Yankee lady who never shut up lol.
All drowning our sorrows, bagging Benny Gale and everyone for the woes of the world. Went back to our seats because you never walk out of a game, and lo and behold :D

That was my Birthday, that day. Sitting on the 50 Meter arc with my Flatmate (Essendon Scum) gave me the shits for the first half.

Was the best feeling ever at full time.

Lets Roar

khan

p.s If that made no sense, I am still at work since 6:30 am getting light headed there is only so much Coke Z you can drink.
