Too many passengers

1. Milne has to GO his performance against Richmond was 1 out of the box expect half a dozen ordinary ones now (Mistakes too costly)
2. Saints need a hard running midfielder with genuine pace. Hayes, Ball, Dal, Harvey excellent at what they do the hard yards but saints need a genuine hard running midfielder. (think Kerr)
3. game plan in first half was excellent with moving the ball into the corridoor and kicking it LONG (much more dangerous) when they play possession chip chip footy across half back thats when it breaks down.
4. DOn't blame the key talls first half when the ball was moving quickley they were given a chance. When you have big tall keys quick movement is the key. It will also give the likes of Schneider and dare i say it Milne:mad: a chance to do what they are there for to crumb
Just my opinion

You sir are an idiot...

Tassie - to have Leigh Fisher (took some clutch saving marks), Gram (18 poss & a great goal) and King (had as many hitouts as both Collingwood ruckmen despite 49% TOG) as in as passengers just isn't right.

The forward line is dysfunctional, and none of the above are contributing to this problem. A thread on the forward line was created some time ago, so some of us have known there's a been problem for a while now.

Milne is one of these small forwards that people hate, and it gets in the way of people seeing him for what he is. He actually isn't a huge squib and puts pretty good pressure on defenders. My criticisms of him are probably his mental toughness as once he starts missing a few or the game isn't going his way he is out of it, he needs to convert his opportunities and actually contribute even when he's getting beaten. Also he is piss poor in the air and not great on the lead. Put a bit of body on him in the air and he's basically lost it already. But he should be in the side, he's one of the most talented goalsneaks in the game however he shouldn't be the target of long kicks. The likes of Gehrig and Koschitzke should be presenting constantly and at least making sure the ball spills out of a pack. Rocca, Cloke, Koschitzke and Gehrig were all poor but Rocca IMO contributed the most for his side because he was able to provide a contest and make sure the ball drops for our crumbers.

I don't like agreeing with Collingwood supporters so I will have to say nothing about your post :D.

I thought Milney worked really hard, but when things go against him sometimes everything he then tries turns to cow manure.

Harry High Pants played the best game I've seen from him, and we shouldn't have tried to isloate Milne one out as a tactic.

Leigh Fisher, yeah probably harsh. Gram wasn't too bad on Friday night, but let's be honest apart from the Port game he's been poor all year and doesn't look interested. King got his hitouts and then did nothing else, and we've seen how good he can be around the ground. Probably harsh though considering he was back from injury

But yeah I was a very angry man when I wrote that, and was probably harsh on some players, but I maintain my point that the same handful of players put in 100% week in week out and just aren't getting the support from the rest of the team. It's frustrating to see blokes like Hudghton, Harves and Ball try so hard only to have their hard work undone from blokes who just don't look interested.

Don't get me wrong - the theme of the thread is right. But it's not the same passengers each time which makes it hard to address.

I thought Kosi was appauling, but we are not going to drop him are we?

It's pretty bad to watch when Harvs and Gardi had that winner's glint in the eye in the last quarter but just didn't get backed up by some others.

It's not a good sign for the future when Harvs charges around in the last quarter almost saying "FFS - just give it to me".

Gardi was charging around (he is a scary man), but we just kept kicking it to Milne and Kosi who both were ineffective in marking contests. Gardi was the man but we just didn't change our game plan - when someone is hot (like Milne against the Tigers) you have to use the advantage.

Harvey , Max , S Fisher , Baker, Lenny , Reiwoldt and Ball play well more often than not.
Fish, Blake , Birss, Milne consistantly play within their ability but we all know their ability is limited.
Montagna , Gram , Kosi, and Dal, X and Raph have been erratic and dissapointing.

Of the newbies, they seem to be more at the Fish level than the Ball level but the Jury is still out. I am still hoping that Gardiner can get to the top level.

Re: The Wash Up From The Pies Match

Over the next couple of weeks slowly bring in players such as McQualter, Ferguson, Allen, McEvoy, Geary etc. Some young blood would do us a world of good.
?

I totally agree. Bring in those guys and lets see what they can do at AFL level. It could not be worse than what a few of our current passengers are doing.

Reading this thread feels like I've walked into a room and a bunch of people are running around screaming with their pants on their heads.

i think stkilda supporters must be fustrated, as 2 years ago they looked like they would be in gfs for a number of years. when they recrited 2 experienced rucks for nicks it seemed they would get to the next level, but it seems that the guys have not moved to the next level, or ther grant thomas effect still is there

i feel for the saints, as i thought they were better than us, and would be in gf with us, hope the club can turn it around

it would great for the sainters to play the cats in the gf this year

Can we give an honourable mention to coaching staff?

Everyone is knackered in the last qtr and the ball is being continued to be bombed long into the forward line....guess who's on the bench - our massvie unit of a full forward (Gehrig) and a giant ape of a ruckman (Gardiner).

O.K. both not playing great footy but big, stong, tall bodies that would have atleast created a contest. The game is over anyway - why not throw a bit of caution to the wind.

If that's not their fault then how about who executes training? Do they do any goal kicking practice. If that was my team I would drumming that into them week after week. Before any "game plan" everyone would be required to kick at goal - everyone. Charlie Gardner handballing instead of going for a shot, G train missing regulation chances, even the great man Lenny Hayes missed one (you can argue he was under pressure but he plays the entire game under pressure and still has great skills). And here is was thinking the last time I'd see a coach asleep at the wheel was GT during the Melbourne final 2 years ago.
