Yeah same here.

put it this way..my tooth was in a bad way. While i was sitting there and ready to be operated on he came out with a pad and paper and wrote down the cost.

Crown 995
3 sessions of root canal 495
then something else 500 bucks
then another thing 400 bucks

then i asked him how much for an extraction....

$125 bucks.

i know i mkight have probs in say 10 years but in 6 months i am going for a falsie.

Still saved myself 2k.

I just realised. I don't think I am having root canals done but I have two dead teeth which have to be 'dug out' and refilled. Either way it's going to take time and money and pain so I feel for you FF.

Sometimes I reckon it would be easier to have the whole bloody lot out and get some really nice falsies. :D

ARGH, that injection kills.. absolute murder.

Hurts mildly when you eat for a couple of days after you've had em out.. then all the pain is gone.

I'd imagine it wouldn't actually do anything.... apart from the obvious long term stuff.

But no funnily enough, I was too consumed with pain for a couple of days. Craving yes, but the pain soon distracted me.

Yes. :D Actually after my last extraction I went and bought all kinds of food because I hadn't been able to eat.........got home and stupid me realised I couldn't open my mouth to eat. :o But I could open my mouth enough to smoke. ;)

Addictions. :(

A friedn told me as soon as he got 2 teeth pulled out he went to the pub asap.

I asked him if his gums got infected..he said no...but was in more pain.

So i guess a few puffs wont harm anyone. ;)

They have more expertise at extracting everything in your bank account then a simple filling or tooth removal.

Well I know I smoked about an hour after my extraction and didn't get any infections so yeah. :) Just have to remember to take care of the wound in the correct manner and it should be fine. ;)

Ive just had my teeth fixed up in the last few months. Ive had to have 4 teeth out, and about 6-7 fillings. I was put to sleep when i got my teeth taken out, so that was alright, but i had no pain when i woke up, after having the 4 taken out at the one time. Ive had other teeth taken out in the chair, and they didnt really hurt.
i think most of the pain comes from our heads, we tell ourselves that its going to hurt, and i think thats why we get some pain.
I think the only thing i dont like about dentists now, apart from the bills, is the needle, but now when i go i just close my eyes, and all you feel is a little pin prick and thats it.

Hate going to the dentist.....Have to go back there next week for Xrays to see if I need a filling.....never had a filling before, but have had 4 teeth taken out years ago just before I had braces. All I remember is how big & bloody painful that needle was!!! Had my 3 wisdon teeth taken out a few years back, but had that done under general anaesthetic. I was definately not gonna have it done awake & have to put up with that bloody needle again! I was still in pain for a couple of weeks after I had my wisdom teeth out, but lots of people seem to be ok after a couple of days. I'm just hoping that I don't need to have a filling next week......don't want that needle......:(

i went to the denist about a month ago a/c wisdom tooth problems the result:
wisdom tooth was exposed enough and in good nick-filling.
had a tooth extracted no pain until the numbness went away-pain lasted about 2hrs.
since then i.ve had 4 fillings and next week im getting 2 more teeth taken out.one tooth be ok to get out but the the other could be a problem.i swear i cant wait:D

cheers!

Yeah, had two a few years ago. 1999 I believe. I had to get them out so my braces would be effective. The needles weren't too bad, and afterwards it was OK, I don't recall needing painkillers (still, the numb feeling lasted forever). It was a pain in the ass having cotton stuffed in my mouth for the next 3 hours though while it was bleeding! Ugh, horrible horrible taste. The numbness wasn't much fun either, it lasted longer than the bleeding.

I don't mind going to the dentist anymore, I can no longer fear what they can do to me. After having braces, I think I've experienced just about all the pain they can offer me, although I've yet to have wisdom teeth problems. Touch wood.

And to those who are complaining about money: get two teeth extracted, then get braces on and visit the dentist every month for the next 2 and a half years. And in that time, get a plate also. Ouch. Sorry mum and dad :p
