Here is my top 10 players who wear the Old Dark Navy Blue and why:
1. Chris Judd. His work rate adds another dimension to his freakish ability to hit a target under all sorts of pressure
2. Marc Murphy. Highly skilled and amazingly mature for a young bloke and has stood up to incredible pressure for a long time
3. Brendon Fevola. He is a true champion and continuously fights his demons to improve for the sake of the club
4. Matthew Kruezer. In only one game he has outsmarted, outskilled and outrun more seasoned opponents. A legend in the making
5. Eddie Betts. I just love the sheer excitement and spark he brings to the team with his skill and determination
6. Jarrad Waite. What a fantastic pair of hands! Athletic, fast and shaping up to be a leader in the back line
7. Bret Thornton. Another brilliant back who continues to improve. His 22 possessions against St Kilda proves his worth
8. Setanta O’hAilpin. The spirit he brings to the club is immeasurable. He could have been the difference against the Bombers
9. Ryan Houlihan. I love his disposal of the ball. He rarely misses a target and seems to have all the time in the world
10. Paul Bower. Another fantastic backline player who continues to rapidly improve. Thank Christ he got a haircut

I encourage you all to go to the H/sun website and send some comments to him as he is clearly a peanut

Nick Stevens - out ??????

Sentana..... Bower in oh my god

I don't think I would lable Fev a "true champion" geez..

How often has this guy watched Carlton play?

No Stevens, Carrazzo, Simpson, Fisher, Walker, Gibbs and even Scotland?

Well I'd definately rate most of them boys over Betts, Kruezer (too early to name him in this crap), Setanta & Bower.

BOWER?
u gotta be jokin!
did u see how many clangers he did on sat night against ess?
he's a top up player that wont be there next yr!

I think Bower will be ok. He will improve gradually and anyway Ratts seems like the kind of coach who wouldn't give Bower so much match time if he wasn't going to be there after this season as he is always talking about promoting the kids.

This is my list for the Carlton top- 10 right at this moment;

1. Judd - Clearly
2. Fevola - Best FF in the league
3. Stevens - Classy on-baller
4. Murphy - One of the best 5 young players in the league
5. Fisher - So important to the Blues success
6. Waite - Key player at either CHB or CHF
7. Hadley - Real class, I can see why Lethal didn't want to lose him
8. Gibbs - Potentially one of the leagues best
9. Kreuzer - Is the key to our future ruck/HF success
10. Walker - If he can make an impact in the middle it will go a long way towards seeing the Blues back at the top.

Carrazzo, Simpson & Scotland - a little unlucky, but seem to have been found out a little now that Judd is in the side, Stevo is back and Murphy isn't getting the heavy tag. Also, I think we all may have fallen in love with the O'hAilpin story (including myself), but nowhere near good enough to actually make the top 10.

I disagree with a couple of his picks but that's the beauty of opinions.

For mine i'd have stevo and gibbs and scotland in there, prob at the expense of setanta, bower and one other i'd have to think about.

I agree with Kreuzer going in there already - he was great sat night.

It's the blokes opinion FCOL and he is entitled to it.

instead of b1tching on, why don't you all make your own top 10 list.

I understand this is his opinion but to have Sentana and Bower in the top 10 shows to me he has absolutely no idea and should not be working for the number 1 selling paper in Australia under any circumstances.

Ok my quick thoughts are

1. Judd - human god
2. Fev - 4th all time leading goal kicker at Carlton has kicked over 80 goals in a season
3. Nick Stevens - Gun Gun Gun
4. Marc Murphy - No.1 pick and now racking up quality disposals week in week out
5. H.Scotland - struggling this year but 2nd in last yrs B & F , leading vote getter at the Brownlow and over 400 possessions
6. J Waite - so important to our structure and can play anywhere
7. A.Carazzo - won the B& F had 400 touches last year
8. T-Bird, first 2 games this season were outstanding and critical 3rd tall in back half
9. Simpson - great year last year
10. Houlihan - regularly gets 20 + touches , great ball user and can play fwd or back... would be a star in a top side

Note:
Special K has the potential to be top 5 within the next couple of months
Walker not considered due to injury
Fisher was close

It probably depends on your point of reference too...

the current top 10 on form might look very different to the top 10 of importance going forward.

Although not having Gibbs on that list would be outrageous.

Exactly - how could anyone leave out Gibbs???
He's just starting to show signs of brilliance.
His last 2 games in particular have been outstanding. In fact his work in the centre in the 3rd quarter of the Essendon match was just brilliant...for some reason he was then moved on to the back flank.
Very exciting for Carlton.

Hehe, thanks for the interest fellas. I deliberately left out Stevens to generate controversy, and plus I think he's spent a while coasting with all the attention on Judd, then he lost his brain after kicking 2 in a row on Saturday. But I do like Bower - he kinda reminds me of Christou.

Anyway, the blog is a fan-based opinion thing designed to generate some banter between supporters - I don't profess to be an expert.
