Andrew Lovett was the quickest. However in no particular order I'll say my top 5 are as follows

David Wojcinski
Courtenay Dempsay
Brett Deledio
Alwyn Davey
Aaron Davey

Jason Winderlich
Lewis Jetta
Danyle Pearce
Chris Judd
Patrick Dangerfield

Patrick Dangerfield? Is he really that quick?

I would say Ryan Griffen needs a mention....I don't think Lovett was quicker than Deledio. In the rnd 16 game last year Lovett was at full speed and Deledio came from way back to run him down for a holding the ball decision..

Lovett wasn't even the quickest at Essendon. Probably the best able to use his pace as a weapon though. Jarryd Atkinson is our quickest over 20 metres and if you watch him play you can see it. He ran 2.72 - draft camp record is 2.79 although in fairness they are 17/18 yr olds - Dempsey, Davey and Lovett have all run 2.75 and I think Dyson was therabouts as well
BTW running down a player from behind is not neccessarily an indication that you are quicker. Other things come into play like angles, awarenes and whether the player with the ball slows down to deliver or bounce.

Gee I would have thought Matt White, Nahas, and even King would have been as quick as Deledio. White has explosive pace as well as quickness.

Armfield is probably the quickest at Carlton, but Kane Lucas apparently also has a sub 3 second time over 20 metres.

Judds not the quickest, but he's easily the fastest through traffic.

Jake King and Matt White I wouldn't think are anywhere near as quick as lids. You have to remember lids is way taller and so he covers alot more ground withou looking as quick.

I played on Nahas as school and he is bloody quick lol

I'm not sure how fast Nahas would be at his top pace (little legs), but he'd be second to none in terms of acceleration. He'd have an unbelievable 20m time. I remember last year when he was being chased by Lovett, waited for him to get close, then absolutely burned him off.

The fastest is Wade Thompson who left football for a year and trained to be a sprinter in 2005, with a group of about 10 not far behind him.

It really means nothing if the player doesn't know how to use their pace n a game though.

Sorry fellow tiger fans, but Matty White is faster than Deledio, even though Deledio is lightning quick.Gotta remember that White started of the back mark in the grand final sprint at least 2 mts from the second backmarker and at least 5 or 6 mts from the front runners and it was amazing how he gobbled them up and won running away by a meter.Best grand final sprint i've seen and he's gotta be as quick as any in the game regardless of what any are saying about Thompson,Campbell,Deledio etc.Means nothing if players trained to be sprinters cos the afl's quickest are very close to pro sprinters anyway!

Don't really see a lot of merit in the Grand Final sprints when most of the names mentioned on this thread don't run it.
Wouldn't you love to see a race with the Davey's. Deledio, Pearce, Dempsey, Wocjinski etc.

Anyone can burn Lovett off if he's chasing them....the point is, he doesn't chase :(

Shaun Hampson looks very quick, maybe because he is 200+cm he looks quicker than he is

the big boys generally take a while to get going with turning circles to match, but their top speeds can be quick.
