The Cats' competitive tall forward Henry Playfair has attracted Adelaide's interest, without an offer being put for him.

Playfair - 198 cm, 98 kg, drafted in 2001 (third round # 41)...we could certainly do with a forward of that size, how do people rate his form in 2006?

His chances at the Cats may become limited with their father/son pick this year (Hawkins?) who is a big key forward. I'm not sure if we have anything that would interest the Cats .

Henry's stat's for 06

The guy is a total hack. He runs to the wrong position, has a big body but never crashes packs, touches the ball twice a game and when he does get a kick he kicks it either along the ground or out of bounds. He played in the cats VFL finals series and the teams forward line only functioned when he was moved to defence to allow N Ablett and Kingsley room to move. Take it from me, he wouldn't get a game at the cats let alone the crows.

p.s. if you were to trade for him you would only have to give up a 4th or 5th round pick or maybe a 3 way deal with Skipworth to the roos.

We're probably looking at an immediate backup to replace Trent for 2007.

It's OK to pick up key pozzy players in the draft, but they probably won't be ready to play until 2008.

So, is Playfair worth a crack for 1 season as a backup to Perrie, McGregor and Bock?

Dunno? I've seen him play some good patches, but he doesn't seem to be able to sustain his form. His stats aren't that thrilling either... :o

51 games
Disposals per game: 8
Marks per game: 4
Goals per game: 1

You would get more value out of Mark Bolton

Please take Bolton... Please...

I can;t honeslty work out why Bolton is hated so much at Essendon world ?

what the hell did he do wrong ?

I think we already have a couple of players who will the fans most hated over here

Wouldn't be a too bad idea if we didnt have too give up much.

Hes got some sort of talent, but hes a bit soft. Toughen him up and you might go OK.

Why would we get a tall forward from a team that is crying out for them?

Doesn't this suggest something?

He just needs some confidence in him.

Before he broke his jaw (from Nathan Bassett) he was in pretty good form at CHF for us. He hasn't really been the same type of player of since.

Could be another Scott Stevens scenario where Craig gets the best out of him maybe?

God, first Bolton then Playfair. Are we seriously in that bad a need pf a KP?! Geez just raid the SANFL and ull find plenty of better options....

Draft, draft, draft, draft. There is the answer.

Not keen.

Seems like a poorer version of Kenny - Just on that, anyone heard anything regarding Kenny during trade week? Or have we said hes a required player etc.?

Kenny wont be traded, especially with Rowdy gone for next year

gotta blame someone ;)

Very funny, but its so true. Usually its the coach !

Seriously, I dont know why they dislike him so much either. He's an 'ok' player as far as Im aware and has been handy on occasions ive seen him.

Prefer to keep Jericho than trade for Playfair.
I'm not one of the many Jericho bashers, but for squad balance, we have more of a need for another KPP like Playfair than flanker like Jericho.

If we end up losing Skippy & Jericho, wilst gaining Playfair & later pick(s), I'm reasonaby happy with the outcome.

Prefer Playfair or J Cloke?
Playfair for me, as we are more in need of KPP forwards.

Also, I hate that thug Cloke for his act on Edwards in the preliminary final.

Kane I disagree here.

Hart is gone so the only tallish flankers we have left are Jericho, Massie, Torney and Mattner. We are in desperate need of tallish flankers/utilities since we only have 4 of them and one of them is nearing 30.

Playfair is an interesting one. When you look at it, we only have 1 proven depth player as a KPP next year and thats probably Stevens. Gibson and Obst are other KPP on the list and they are miles off.

We need to recruit a KPP either through trade or draft. Playfair is tall enough to pinch hit in the ruck if needed. He is not overly great mark and a very dodgy kick. If we do get him it would be for depth purposes only. With pick 14 in the draft, I very much doubt we will be able to draft a KPP that is physically ready for the AFL.

I can see why we would be interested in Playfair but I was kind of hoping we would be aiming a bit higher than that. Someone like Polak perhaps or even McDougall.
