Would you guys be interested in trading Brent Reilly?

If so what would it require?

I propose Daniel Bell and 4th rounder for Brent Reilly, any takers?

Even though he has had injury issues this year he is too much of a leader for the younger interstate kids in the club to be traded. It would set a bad example for the younger guys if we just traded a good, settled interstate player.

Unless he suddenly changes his tune and wants to go home, he's as close to untouchable as we have on our list at the moment, simply because of the example he's set for young non-SA players.

He's not going anywhere for the reasons stated above. He's had a disastrous season when he should be in the prime of his career but hopefully he can have a big preseason.

Lock him and Hentschel down for cheap, value for money dream team selections next year!

I know I'm in the minority, but I would. He spends more time off the park than on it. His trade value is only going to lessen from now on. Always good to get bay men back. Bell and a 3rd rounder.

His injuries this year have been unavoidable and unlucky. There's certainly nothing stopping him from spending more time on the park next year. Its not like he's riddled with hamstring problems or anything like that.

Plus, we only trade if the player wants to leave and I'm pretty sure Brent doesn't want to go.

I'm a fan of Bell, and would love to have him at our club (although would want more than him and a 4th rounder).
At the same time, Reilly is exactly the type of player I'd be looking to trade. He's starting a worrying trend of looking the goods in the preseason, getting injured, and then not returning to anywhere near his best until the next season, only to be injured again. Been on our list for 7 years, yet has never played at his best for a string of more than a few matches at a time. Add to that, whilst his disposal is great, his vision and decision making are not, and he's well down the list in terms of efficiency. I don't think he's a required player.

BUT, as others have stated, the fact that he stuck with us when he was a homesick youngster, and now does a lot of good work helping other interstate recruits feel comfortable here, means that he's un-tradeable. It would send an awful message to other interstaters for a player who's shown great loyalty to tough it out when he's not happy, to be shown none in return by the club.

He was certainly looking the goods in round 1 before that piece of utter dogsh!t Minson took him out behind the play and broke his wrist. It was worrying though, how unfit he was when he returned 2 months later. Surely he would've been able to run in that time but when he came back, he looked shockingly unfit, played crap and got injured again. Definitely needs a Kane Johnson style training regime.

Play makers such as Reilly will quite often have a lower efficiency due to the fact that this role requires them to take risks and actually create goals. They quite often go long and direct to a contest or try and hit up a leading player, something much harder to do than chip backwards to an uncontested player to take a grab. As such, players like Mcleod and Edwards, players known for their silky skills will quite often have a lower efficiency rating than say a Doughty or Massie who rack up a lot of kicks to uncontested players in the back half, because more often than not they will kick to a marked player who is leading, Reilly is similar.

Is that you Jimmy Stines?

Nah send Reilly to Collingwood with Jericho for Didak and a low draft pick

Imo, if we were to trade it would be Colin Sylvia + 3rd rounder. Thats IF we were to trade him.

Colin Sylvia... yuck. As a player, I think Reilly is expendable. I think everyone has a player they love to hate and for me it's Reilly. I just don't really think his heart is in the whole AFL footy thing. Even my mum (who hero worshipped him after Craig's first game in charge v Melbourne) has gone off him.

Having said that, for the reasons above, he probably won't be traded. If it means vB, Mackay, Maric etc have a role model and are more likely to stay at the club, I'll put up with Reilly for a few more years.

I dont get these threads.

What happens when an agreement is reached? Do we then ring up Reilly and tell him unfortunately he was traded by an Internet forum?

So what threads do you get?

Threads on team selections from one week to the next? Penalties handed out at the tribunal? Delistings and retirements at years end? POTY votes?

They all count for nought in reality, just people's opinions, so you are right, close BF down.

But then I'll have to find another way to waste time.

Its one thing to speculate on team changes but randomly picking out players and proposing trades only to have the other team supporters say its ridiculous just seems weird to me.
