Trade Rules clarification

Hi

Just want to know and confirm some trade rules.

If a player who is uncontracted in 2013 and signs a new deal with their club to the end of 2015. Is it true that they can't be traded in the 2013 trade period???

For eg.

Jobe Watson is uncontracted in 2013
May 2013 he signs a 4 year contract extension to 2017
October trade period - Essendon has no way of trading him. Is this correct?

That's the Heffernan rule, but a player can still be traded if both parties agree. The stupid thing about it is that for ANY trade to go through both parties must agree.

For the sake of the trade you're about to make up though, it won't happen.
