I'd like to nominate one for future use - when a club and player have publicly committed to each other but the club has a change of heart and decides not to proceed - this is now known as a 'Leek'.

Can be used in many forms if required...

"It looked like a done deal, but I reckon they might Leek him now!"

"I thought we were getting <INSERT PLAYER>? - Nah mate, we Leeked him!"

"Can't believe <INSERT PLAYER A> is up for grabs now! - we should Leek <INSERT PLAYER B> and focus on him instead!"
