It's a very retrospective issue.

On one hand, you are basically giving up a potentially great young player, for a player that is capable at AFL level, has plenty of talent, and is quite young.

On the other hand, there is a great possibility that it could be a terrible decision, especially given Thompson's attitude towards the AFC. You never know what might happen in the future.

In my opinion, with the addition of pick no.29 it's a pretty fair deal, but it's still a risk. Perhaps the thing going for this idea is the fact that he's a midfielder, which is most likely what we would've taken with pick 8.

Thompsons attitude towards AFC these days are pretty good. After all it was his managment that approached us not the other way around

Thompson and pick 29 for Adelaide's first pick 8.
A fair deal, but as has been mentioned, AFC won't be trading #8 pick.

I still think there is a reasonable chance we may use a Weagles' pick via the Stenglein trade to gain the services of Thompson.

$'s talk Stiffy & we have plenty of them. ;)

no way adelaide will trade pick pick 8 which could potentially be eckermann or monfries who both have great potential.

we don't know Jack about Thompson's attitude to the Crows. he made a couple of stupid comments in the paper a while back. doesn't reflect how he sees himself or his career. As a kid I am sure he did hate the Crows, but as professional adult footballer you don;t have those views.

besides what people say when they think they're being clever is not always what they truly think.

Despite what I might say, now and in the future, deep down, in my heart of hearts, I am sure not all Port supporters are mutant feral scum. :D

You are correct in saying not ALL Port supporters are mutant feral scum. But I can assure you, MOST are. :)

Ummmmm No. Thompson via the Stenglein trade or Pre-Season draft is how he will end up at the Crows. #8 will be kept for either Monfries or Eckerman.

Let's not forget how the media blow everything out of proportion. There would be a high majority of footballers who end up playing for teams they hated as youngsters.
