Meesen and McGregor for McMahon and we exchange first round draft pick.

The Western Bulldogs have pick 5 so if we exchange that pick with our first round pick (10 – 17) and we could have a deal.

WB gets – Meesen and McGregor and our first round draft pick (10 – 17)

Adelaide gets – Jordan McMahon and picks 5

Breaking the deal down: John Meesen and Ken McGregor packaged together would be worth pick 5 (IMO) and Jordan McMahon would be worth a first round draft choice.
mick, I'm not sure how your fellow Crows supporters would view this but Bulldogs fans would give sort of trade serious consideration.

We aren't after a Pavlich (would cost too much), and KM would at least provide a target & contest. He will play much more senior football at the Doggies than he is likely to at the Crows. Our ruck stocks are terrible & we are desperate to get another developing ruckman into the mix, we'd give Meeson every opportunity.

Jordy's form slump coincided with his partner & child moving back to SA, so you would expect his run & carry (and vision) would return given a bit more stability at home. He can also cover the 100m in under 11 sec, so running from the backline he is lightening quick if the opposition don't close the space in front of him.

The only question is will we be prepared to downgrade pick 5? I doubt the Crows would even look at the trade without a serious upgrade sweetener so without it we wont get the deal, and alot of doggies fans are keen on Henderson who wont be around by pick 10.

The thing is, I dunno if WBD would be that keen on getting top 10 picks for the next few years if it's at the expense of getting a couple of good developed big men.

WBD squad is extremely talented, with hugeeee potential huge. They don't really need to get a few more 17,18 year old top #10 etc. They have the foundations already layed out. Everitt's a freak of a player, griff, ray, (cooney while already a good player really needs to be more consistent), there's many more.

Depends what Eade is after, Meese and McGregor could turn your team into top 4 material.

Last year they really shouldn't have gone for McDougal, I believe that was a waste...I mean he wasn't even proven, McGregor is proven, Meesen just hasn't had much of an opportunity, he was the best rated ruckmen in the 2004 draft however.

As a Doggies fan I like that deal, especially if Jordy wants to go home. Meeson is highly rated on the Doggies Board and McGregor would be the sweetener for the deal that gives us a crash and bash type forward....something we definitely lack!

He spoke as if it were a package, but that might have been my interpretation of what he said.

McGregor will hold very good currency IMO in a trade. I can't think of too many other KPP's who can take a contested mark who might be on the market.

4 clubs are interested which should ensure good value if we do go ahead with the trade.

what worries me about a trade is 2 things:

1. Kenny is a big game player. **** knows we don't have enough of those.
2. referring to point 1. I'd only let him go, if injuries meant we had seen the best of him. at which point, how much would we get back?

Thing is, he isnt getting a game now, what happens next year, year after, when fingers crossed our forward line will read

F- Porplyzia, Tippett, Gill
HF- Walker, Sellar, Vince

Or something to that extent, why not trade him now, has high currency, the above package will enable us to gain an elite midfielder, and Kenny will be able to play out his career getting plenty of games

I know that these trades will never happen but just imagine if they did.....

Messen, Mattner & Jericho to Carlton = pick 3

McGregor & Stevens to Western Bulldogs = pick 5

I know it's a fantasy but just think about it. We can always live in hope.

F- Porplyzia, Gill, Someone else
HF- Sellar, Kenny, Welsh

Vince is not up to it, Walker, although being a texas ranger will need some time. Tippet at CHF?!

I doubt we will trade Stevens on top of McGregor & Perrie.

Next year I reckon we will park Hentschel at FF:

F: Edwards (resting midfielder), Hentschel, Welsh
HF: Burton, Gill, Porplyzia

Yeah, I read that thread. None of them appear to know the first thing about Kenny, and several appear to absolutely hate him for reasons unknown.
To be fair, though, the last time they may have seen him play was that ridiculous game last season where we lost to them and Kenny took several grabs in the 40-50 meter range only to register 2 points for his efforts, failing to even make the distance on about 4 occassions.
Also, if he was to move to Richmond, I'm almost certain they'd turn him in to the kind of crap player their supporters currently think he is. It's Richmond.

not all richmond supporter are as dumb as the few that post stuff like that. we would be lucky to get a player like ken at our club he would fit into any sides starting 22 i rate him highly a player that can play both ends of the ground well is a rare talent unsure what neil is thinking even hearing offers for him

Vince is a midfielder.
It wasnt me who put him there. I agree with Kmg about Hentschel, probably move one of Welsh or Sellar (if he's getting a regular game) to half forward, tahts starting to look like a pretty good forward line. We'll have to be patient with Hentschel.

I think the days of resting a midfielder forward have just about gone. It rarely happens these days as you have extensive rotations on and off the bench.

I think the most likely scenario, assuming everyone is fit and McGregor is traded:

F: Scott Welsh, Trent Hentschel, Matthew Bode
HF: Jason Porplyzia, Nick Gill, Brett Burton

I think thats a nice bit of balance there. 2 talls, 2 mediums who are good overhead, and 2 small players, one a gun mark overhead and the other one a specialist crumber. With Welsh, Bode and Gill in the same forward line, the defensive pressure will rise up a couple of notches and teams will find it difficult to run out of their defence freely.

I like that mix :)

I think that deal is pretty good. Bullies pick up Meesen and McGregor and remain in the first round of the draft. Their ruck stocks are bolstered and they get some instant benefit with McGregor helping their KPP stocks.

Adelaide get some extra leg speed which we need and we move up in the draft order to snare someone of the quality of Ebert or Palmer.

Id love to keep K-Mac and Meesen, but in the interests of squad balance, I think I'd do that trade.

what youve got to take into account is that pick 5 in this draft is almost certainly a gun player, and the deal you propose involves no other gun players, so it wont go through. pick 5 >>> pick 10.

a more realistic option would be macmahon and our 2nd rounder for both of those players, if we wanted to go for both of those players. average players and average picks all round.
