Trades and drafts - Will it be a blue fizzer?

Don't know about anyone else but trade week just isn't coming fast enough. I do however have an uneasy feeling that the Blues won't participate or the other clubs won't deal with them as much as we are hoping for. We may be forced to delist our dissenters and also rans but will also have to keep some because it will be nigh on impossible to replace about 20 of them with late draft picks.

Bottom line, if you are keeping non-performers, keep the young ones and toss out the older ones. The young ones could be late bloomers (Campbell, Matthews for example) so even if we could get better than them, we may have to hold off for another year.

I don't know, so used to having expectations that have turned to crap the past couple of seasons, I'm trying hard to keep a lid on my hopes for the draft and trade week in light of nothing to deal with. The chances of getting a very good player in the preseason draft are very slim as well. Just doesn't happen these days.

yes i am also very wary and cant wait for the trade period to start. i just hope we trade better than last years debacle (martyn was a dud, everyone knew it then). Also theres a possibility that motlop could be used for the Corey McKernan, so heres hoping ;)

I have a horrible feeling that next year may well be our worst yet. Today's Herald Sun says that Murphy & Allan are wanted by Essendon. No names mentioned as possible trades from the Bombers. Daniel Harford & Brett Johnson (who?) to go from Hawthorn to the Blues, with Hawthorn paying some of Harford's salary. No Blues players mentioned as possible trades with the Hawks. We can pray that Nick Stevens somehow ends up in the draft & we get him (yeh, right!!!)

If we end up with Harford and Johnson in a 3 way trade where Essendon get Murphy and Allan and Hawthorn get one or two Essendon players, I will be in two minds. No doubt we are getting little to no value from those two players but potentially they are talented individuals who could play well for the Bombers. I would hate to pick up two duds while our disgruntled players recover their careers.

Time will tell.

Must also admit that trade week cannot come around quick enough either. Lets face it, anything can happen during that week, and all we can really hope for is that we get players that can help improve our list.

Carlton have stated that unless they get a massively extravegant offer for their priority pick, they will NOT trade it away. All the talk in the papers and on this site suggest we'll pick up Kane Tennace for Murray Bushrangers. If all the talk is half true about this kid, all I can say is get this kid a navy blue jumper NOW!!!!!!!!

I just hope that Pagan and the whole footy department can improve on our recent history in this period.

Go Blues!!

I have very itchy feet, I think it might be trade week fever.

Here are a few trades I think Carlton might make

Allen and Murphy - Essendon
Bolton and Henneman (perhaps Misiti) - Carlton

Corey McKernan - Kangaroos
David Teague - Carlton

What do other carlton fans think? Who is a fair trade for McKernan?

These are the players who i think have finnished their careers at Carlton

Allen
Murphy
McKernan
Eccles
Fletcher
Franchina
Manton
Merrington
Plunkett

David Teague wont be that happy about meeting up with Pagan again and S. Motlop may have to be kept on the list to keep his brother Daniel at the Roos or the chances are they will both want out to either Port or Essendon.
Carlton have nothing to trade and will find it hard to get other clubs to take the duds they have on their list.
Essendon must be on drugs if they take Justin Murphy in a trade,
ex Richmond, Ex Carlton, ex Geelong and now ex Carlton again and has not improved in ability or attitude.

Go Roos in 2004

Murphy is a talented player (see the game against Richmond this year) with a poor attitude. He would come cheap in trade and salary. Sheedy probably thinks he will be the guy to turn him around.

You guys should definitely not trade your priority pick. Kane Tenace, Andrew Walker or Colin Sylvia would be a better long term prospect than any offer you may get for that pick.

i am hoping carlton have been keeping quiet leading up to trade week for a reason, so they can pull a few rabbits out of the hat and suprise us all

any more news on the story that carlton along with the aflpa were trying to get carlton access to trade into rounds 1 and 2?

Well, my fears were well and truly unfounded although I still don't know about the two Hawks and their impact, it was necessary to refresh that midfield and with Allan and Murphy it definitely wasn't better the devil you know.

sa_afl blues did very well and Kingy .... give yourself an uppercut, you've had a shocker mate!:p
