Those posters who were going to have a sleep till 2pm are going to get a shock when they wake up :).

All the best SG. Thought you had a few great years for the B&G.

I think Spangher will be handy. I thought he had a couple of great games for the Swans. One of the Swans strengths is their defence however......so he probably found the going tough up there. Not entirely sure but I think we were going to take him with a late pick last year but the Swans jumped in with a marginally earlier pick.

As for Anderson, he seems to have time when in possession a quality good players seem to possess.....and is a goal kicking mid!!!

Jacobs deal didn't get done, nor did Tippett. Fair chance Crows will be stripped of picks, as well. So our picks are all likely to be bumped up a bit. Very interesting final week. Had looked like a fizzer for a while there, but it's ended up being quite an interesting trade period. Our trading has been excellent, first rate really. Shame to lose Young for so little, but clearly the club didn't think he was worth the cap space that would have been required to keep him. We should have some room in the cap to sign Buddy up over the next few months, so if that's the result, then overall it's a win.

Jed Anderson is probably as good or better than we could have gotten with our first pick, and now we have him AND pick 28. Also Brian Lake. Quite an amazing result, when you think about it.

Toy will be picked up in the draft - likely before we get a chance to nab him?

We wouldn't spend our first pick on him, I believe.

"Toy still with the Suns."
:(
Not sure I understand the love for this kid - he was in my fantasy team so I've kept an eye on him, has done very little to this point in his career. Add in the heart condition and he looks an awfully risky pick. I say file him under Jesse Smith for Body Wasn't Up To It.

I hope that we don't rue that.

We got the bloke we wanted for Gilham and a couple of downgrades.

Not ruling out Toy, I just believe we'll keep our first pick.

If toy wants to come to us, then he will. It was made clear this morning by Ashcroft that they will do what they can to get him to melbourne and will not be at the Sun's next year. Given this information, GC will most likely delist Toy and he will become a delisted free agent.

from there the best deal that suits him wins!

Don't Quote me on this, but just heard that announcement was just made that our compensation pick in loosing Young and Murghy for pick 66, would be looked at by the AFL!!

Can you imagine if our third round pick gets downgrated to a second round pick in the Draft!!

I'm normally a bit more tactful than this, but considering the other two clubs chasing him: bulldogs and demons, are quite shit, then I think we'll be in with a good shot at securing him with salary only making up part of the equation.

That is bizarre! We already traded it . . . does that mean we can get a second pick . . . or does GWS get out new compensation?

Essendon are also chasing him. I don't really know where he fits into the team or who's spot he takes, but definitely good depth. If it doesn't cost the hawks too much i'd go for it, and hope the lure of premiership success sways him to join us!

IF he wants an easy regular game in the ones then he will chose one of the other two. If he wants a premiership and the best support he can get he will choose us.

For what its worth he did support Essendon as a junior (probably a lot smarter than that now)

Cant beleive how many draft picks we've ended up with. Well done hawksfc!

Didnt 66 go to Sydney as part of the Spangher deal. Will be upgraded to pick 35 now that the Swans have it.
You are correct. It is the pick we traded to Sydney that was the compo pick. I will be pissed if they benefit from any review!

That's the thing that makes this an A trade period.
Needed 3 things if possible - which I thought wasn't possible
1-Get an established KPD - tick
2-Keep our pick in the 20's - tick
3-Get a young midfileder - tick

I figured we would need to use 2 to get 3 but Anderson is Top 20 talent. So pick 29 on another midfielder for mine. Lake and Spangher means we do not have to draft tall.

Why would GWS want our pick 65 for 68? 68 would of been their 7th pick in the draft....... So now 65 is their 7th. Will they even use it?

Surely they would have us forfeit our pick 68 in the draft and give us a second rounder? They have absolutely no right to give a significantly better pick to Sydney but it wouldn't surprise me if the AFL had a word in the ear of Sydney to tell them to get our compo pick as it may be better off in a couple days...
