Just wondering - in past years there has been a train-on group after all the drafts for a chance for one more to snare a last spot in the full squad.

As the club did not use pick 84 in the rookie draft, did they keep that to possibly add another player later? Have they got some train-on players this year or is all done and dusted?

If there is a train-on squad, when would they normally decide on who to add to the list?

Thanks for any info on this situation.

It was announced by AFL's Patrick Keane right after the rookie draft that no clubs had invited players to train on.

As far as I know, all clubs' lists are now complete for the 2012 season.

RFC_O, this may be one you cannot answer in any detail, but any info you can get/advise from the footy dept is appreciated.

As you would have read, many of us are curious as to why we decided to go into 2012 one rookie short. I can understand going in short if we don't believe the talent is there, but why not even have the train-on group?

From an outsiders perspective, it seems there is nothing to lose (worst case we take no-one anyway), but I assume there is more to it. Does a train-on group soak up a lot of resources? Were the remaining players not even on the radar?

Again, appreciate there may be little if anything you can say on this, but any clarification si appreciated.

Are we short? We have 6 rookies + 1 international rookie.

I thought we get 8, and Helsin gets counted on the list proper following the deal with the Gaelic mob (other internationals are still outside it though)

May be 100% wrong though, so happy to be corrected.

We are one short, but most clubs went into the rookie draft with mostly full rookie lists and those that had room pretty much all passed at least once.
GWS passed on 6 PSD picks and only took one rookie
Gold Coast took one rookie, McQualter from StKilda and redrafted its own player then passed
Sydney passed 5 times in the rookie draft

Going one short is hardly the end of the world
