I know this is late, but better late than never...

Headed down to training for the first time this year, was surprised that most of the 'Stars' didn't make it out onto the track. Being a friday night game, thought most would be 'fit' to take part.

No Pav, Wiz, Solly, Taz, Sandi, Bell (obviously)

They spent a fair chunk of time working the ball around the forward fifty, spotting up targets, with assistant coaches giving them the hurry up and putting them under some pressure.

Also a fair bit of time spent on one on one marking duels, defenders v forwards.

Chris Scott spent a lot of time with Gilmore. Telling him to punch with a straight arm, rather than a swinging arm when attempting to spoil. He also put him under some pressure when trying to hit a target, making Gilmore kick over him(scott would stand about 10 m in front of Gilmore's target with arms raised, moving about) and try hit a target (Gilmore did, every time).

After the main session, McManus tried maybe 5 times to kick to Campbell on a fast lead from the square. Missed on all occasions that I saw. I dunno whether Campbell was under instructions to run hard the whole lead, and not ease his pace to mark the ball, but most of Macca's misses were a metre over his head :S

I think it was Mourish spent the session hooked up to a ventilator looking machine on a bike in the gym.

I was up on the balcony watching training while drinking free beer and eating free rich people food for a function

Saw Macca and Kiwi's mini session inside 50, Macca wasn't as bad as you said he was but considering he was standing still under no pressure, every single kick should've hit the big fella on the chest. I think you're right about Kiwi, he appeared to be under orders to hit the ball at full speed and as a result spilt one or two he should've taken.

Big Kep has a thumping kick! Some of the goals he slotted from the arc went for miles! I'm coming around on this bloke, he could be pretty good leading up long from a half forward flank.

I'm with you bigkev, i've been a doubter about Kepler, but a mate bagged him last night, and I found myself sticking up for him. His hands looked good, and your right about his kick, raking right foot? ;)

Looked a bit lost when as the defender in one on ones, but Kep on a half forward/wing could be a winner... :thumbsu:

Kep will get his chance at some stage and will surprise most supporters with how decent he actually is. In the forward half of the ground, his size, mobility for his size, his marking and kicking skills are a definite plus.

He should never be played in defence tho unless we have absolutely no other option - he turns into a crab down there.

If Murph doesn't take this latest chance he's been given and start showing more in contested situations then big Kep will get a chance if his wafl form continues.

At any rate one of Murph, Kiwi or Kep will be traded or moved on at the end of the year and I doubt it will be Kep. We don't need 5 tall forwards on the list who are all AFL ready.

I also have a feeling that Murph might be better suited on a half forward flank than in a key forward post for the style of footy we play but that's just a vague opinion at the moment. He definitely has the mobility and if he could get this to work, you get fit an extra tall in the forward line, plus allow Murph to play a less contested role and take a hanger coming in from the side occassionally.

So how many talls would be up there??? Pavlich, Tarrant, Murphy and an extra? Way too tall. What we need is Murphy to be a full forward, which seems to be his only possible position anyway.

Who ever thought of that deserves some kudos.:thumbsu:

Train for the hardest scenario and everything else seems easy.

The bug K1W1 must have thought He was getting it lace out from the Joondie players and it resulted in 10 goals.

Maybe Macca has found a niche to settle into in his post playing days.

The reserve psychology skills coach...

Great effort by the bug Kiwi - deserves the same amount of chances that Murphy has had. You know the bug Kiwi's heart is in it at least.
