i hate to say this but he is one of the biggest front runners in our team! when we are down he is always down. He never ever stands up to the task, i dont care that he is young and the only key forward in our team atm its time he stands up otherwise he can play in the VFL! until he earns spot in the team because he simply hasnt been good enough since he won the B&F IMHO.
 
Travis Cloke is a joke

Tonight finally tipped the scales for me.
He isnt an A grader as MM reckons he gets beat nearly every week cant kick, his marking is average and once his head drops its curtains for him.
5 possesions to 3 quarter time for a CHF is laughable.

I dont think you can judge his performance like that. Our midfield has been overrun and without quality delivery any key forward will struggle.

I dont he always does this at pivital moments of games.
Every season i say he is going to be better but no he isnt.

His fantastic when pressures not on. That's about it. But there are problems elsewhere as well.
 
I thought leon davis was very ordinary tonight too. Seems to just go missing in crunch games.Clokey was poor though i agree.

Some bad kicking for goal didn't help.

Drop Cloke? Who would you put there? I don't think we have anyone...

This guy should get dropped, he needs to know he is not guaranteed a spot in our team if he doesn't perform.

FWIW I think he believes he's one of the best players in our team, Cameron would be much more useful to us atm. Dawes has more potential to be perfectly honest.

3 weeks ago, I would have. Not anymore, it's worth a shot (not dropping Cloke, but having Brown as a CHF and Cloke playing Leigh Brown's role).

Nathan Brown should not be in the team on form. He shouldn't be in the 25 on form.

And Cloke is looking like Tex Walker out there the first 3 rounds. Absolutely awful tonight - I can accept missed set shots, but he just showed no heart tonight. Lame performance.

It's just that I've seen glimpses of him playing up the ground a few times and he just looks more like a target up in the forward line. May just be me, but I think he looks more comfortable up there.

Why not? Didn't we find Jack Anthony by "mistake"?
 
I suggested Brown up forward in the Melbourne pre-game thread last week.

Don't think it was met too well from memory though.
 
This thread is very misdirected and shows a lack of understanding IMO.

The very role of a foward means your reliant on other people to get you the ball. If the team is dominated in the midfield fowards tend to suck, if the midfield kicks poorly fowards tend to struggle.

Add to that the fact that as much as when we play poor he plays poor it could also be argued that part of that has to do with the fact we are a far worse team when he is not preforming.

That said I totally agree with MDC, I think his start to the season has been very poor in general. He looks completely confused as too his role and as has been mentioned previously when teams play zone defence he doesn't have the same space on the wing to lead into.

It is a massive problem for us in that without Cloke we really have no one who is a real target for the mids.
 
Both Brown and Cloke were terrible.

Brown needs to move forward ASAP, he must be tested there. Cloke can then play further up where he dominates.

This is true, but obviously not as simple as that.

Cloke, in the right frame of mind and form would have outmarked Harry Taylor multiple times tonight, as he did when we played Geelong last year and he was one of our best.

He had the chance too, he was one out, he has the bigger body and has a very good set of hands. He didn't.

Our kicking to him was average, it was always been average. But he's a good player, he has always been able to take the contested grabs, or at least show endeavor to, which is also something that he has been lacking in so far.

I'm starting to wonder whether he has some psychological scars from the New Years Eve attack still lingering that affect him....it's possible imo.
 
Unerstand it's not that simple more with the op saying he never preforms when we play bad.

As for the NYE thing it's not out of the question although I atm put it down to him struggling without another target and at times he is looking lost. I am not sure if he has been given a new role and is strugling to adjust. That said I think most of his games without another key foward last year where pretty poor too. John Anthony is good but he is not a real key target ATM we need someone to step up and offer that other then Cloke.
