I know it's January and the season has not started....

To all you Hawks supporters

How did Travis Tuck look towards the end of the 2006 season?

Will he make an impact on the First 22 at Hawthorn in 2007?

Thanks
Maxwell

Haven't seen him personally but will just comment on what has been written on this thread. Had an ok year with Box Hill playing a few good games. Most seem to think he will follow the family trait of being a long term prospect but is training well from all reports and would expect to see him get some game time in the NAB cup. As for the season proper I would think there are a few ahead of him but you never know.

Looked really good towards the end of last year at Box Hill. Definately ahead of where we'd thought he'd be, and has baulked up nicely. Kinda gets forgotten when you have Muston and Ellis coming through as well but he definately is a chance to get games this year.

Just to back up what cschreud's has said.
I watched a Box Hill game last year on ABC and Tucky was in everything. Run from the backline, long kicks, good tackles, it was all coming to gether for him. Early on in 2006 he was playing Box Hill 2's but as the season progressed he found more confidence and form and was playing very good footy in the BH 1's.
I would expect him to get a few senior games this year.

just looking at him he seems to be very fit and strong so maybe the only thing holding him up atm is the depth in our midfield; ie. he is along way back in the waiting line.

wat is his best position: wing? half-back? centre?

^ From what I know his a half back flanker. From the beautiful training pictures that have been posted, he looks like he has a strong wirey frame I think he is ready to play a couple games this year if his box hill form warrants selection.

Dunno about tucky. At VFL level he looked solid without showing much more. Would like to see him win more of his own footy.

He reads the play well. Is a solid kick rather than a booming one.

It just depends on how much improvement he has got in him.

HFC just have to simply continue to look forward, to '08 and '09, even now. Tucky and Little and Boyle have to be given multiple weeks of senior level exposure this year, with serious game time, not pine time. If it's not working for them in one position, throw them somewhere else. It's not new! David Dench, Darren Jarman, Peter Caven and Glenn Archer to the fwd line. The coaches have to have a few cards up their sleeves, or talk to Jeansy about inventiveness. Harry Miller got some genuine game time against the Tiges and kicked 3 majors, denied game time, dropped to BHFC, unfortunately he didn't bite the bullet and knuckle down, on the train back home. Tuck and Little, especially Little are receiving regularly documented accolades from T.Viney, well how are they to be ready for '08/'09 if they're not baptised in '07. The bracket of 40 to 60 games of senior experience gives everyone a bit of a window at the potential long term worth of "the" player, eg. just how flamin good is Jordan Lewis lookin now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another 6 will be trimmed in Oct, the over 30s probably. Despite coaching humming and harrring required, AC and staff,( who are all on probably 45thou a year or more) will have to manage our list as good as the ACB is handling our magnificent cricket fertile future.

The training pics certainly portray tuck as a strong unit. He looks capable of playing as a physically intense outside mid or a back pocket player who creates run, judging from his physique, similiar to kennedy. Time will tell but clarkson has learnt from schwabs mistakes of drafting small skinny useless mids.

he has definitely added considerable muscle bulk in the last 12 months. because he is part ablett, he's found it easier to thicken up than his old man.

it's funny that hawthorn had a glut of HBF's about 4 years ago, and now it seems that we're on target to find ourselves in a similar situation in 12 months time. i think that desperation is a required trait for a back pocket player, and tuck is going to have to demonstrate that trait before he's a candidate for that position.

he did make good progress out at box hill last year, and i anticipate him knocking on the door of the senior team later in 2007. he's slipped under the radar nicely - an anonymous face in a team full of exciting youngsters.

Travis is a son of a gun! Plays the team game, always kicks to his teams advantage or hits targets. Makes good quick decision and has the height and body to play a variety of positions from HBF, wing and midfield.

Nothing wrong here folks.
