Travis Varcoe: midfielder?

centre bounce midfielder ? - NO!

Get the ball in space or at the edge of a pack running at 100kph, run another 30m and kick it 45m onto the chest of a leading forward ? much more likely !

iirc he ran a 14.10 in his draft year befor the leg injury so his endurance will be a strong point in the future

he is potentially what Daniel Wells always promised to be, Wells was runner up in the sandover medal the year he was drafted but imo he hasn't improved much since. Varcoe is in an environment (one with actual training facilities) that he could develop very well.

I don't think he reads the play that well all of the time

when he does he's been able to kick some goals but too often he is well out of position

I would be pretty confident that this can be overcome by learning the Geelong gameplan and structure setup, combined with experience. Once he gets the ball he can use it quite well, getting TO the ball is something that can be learned.
