We all know Varcoe is struggling since returning from injury. Doesn't look fit enough at the moment and thus can't get involved. It's a more complex issue than many people think. What Trav brings to side IMO is very unique and when on song, he is a crucial component to this side for his pressure acts, speed to cover opposition spread and clean foot skills. He needs to be given opportunity to rediscover the form that gave us such an explosive start to the GF in 2011 and troubled Hawthorn in Round 1. However, this needs to be balanced with the fact that he is not pulling his weight and there are players in the VFL that on merit, deserve consideration perhaps in front of someone like Varcoe. The fact is, even with Smedts, Murdoch and Motlop in the one team, we have been made to look slow at times (and probably HAVE been slow). In this sense, the output of a player like Varcoe cannot simply be replaced by the likes of GHS or Stringer for instance.

I guess what Id like to read in threads like these is constructive criticism. Varcoes current form is well and truly worthy of critique, but how about framing the discussion around what exactly the problems are at the moment and what we think he needs to do to recapture his best form.

I don't mind meto's opinions toward Trav either but as Strangled Cat mentioned, it does come across as a little bizarre the frequency of his displeasure toward the player.
It's annoying when Trav was out injured and he'd still get criticized when not even playing.
I mean he's now played 8 games in 2 years and he started of this season in solid form and would have likely built on that as the season wore on.

Obviously something more to these collar bone injuries as we have now seen a few players cop a heavy knock to that area of the shoulder, return and struggle to find their form again...Murphy, Varcoe, Hunt, Rosa.

Sorry to be pedantic, BUT T.V. had a shoulder reconstruction, which can be a season ending injury, and not his first. It is a big deal, and has implications , like no upper body work for 2 months, no tackling, just running. Doesn't do wonders for a known tackler like Varcoe.
A reconstruction needs time for it to fully heal, and tackling and getting the arm up and out to the side is hazardous. Not easy to return from.

EDIT: Definitely NOT accusing folk here of racial hatred - the people baying for Varcoe's blood simply remind me of a 1920's KKK lynch mob, is all. Stat this and stat that. All a load of codswallop if you ask me. Sure T.V needs his mojo back. Sure he might get it in the magoos. Then again maybe he can only get confidence back in the ones, as the seconds are now pretty far below the man's capabilities at his peak.

Varcoe needs his mojo. He's IMMENSELY valuable to the team once he's on song. Once again apologies in advance if this seemed like an accusation of racism against certain folk.
