Second game in a row where he's gone into the midfield and ripped the game open with his pace, work ethic and tenacity.

His work that lead to the Gamble goal was one of the most exciting things i've seen in quite some time, and even more impressively, he actually continued on to present in the goal square.

One of our major weaknesses during our amazing run has been the lack of that skilled midfielder who can break lines and create something with his speed, and now we've finally found one.

He's very much still a work in progress, but he really is starting to become the footballer i knew he could be.

The really exciting thing is that he's only recently turned 21

you can see his confidence is high I seen him run at the man several times front on and not shirk away. He was terrific tonight and a couple of his plays will make the highlight reel that is for sure. Such silky skills.

As well as Byrnes played he gets my votes. Just kept running and everytime it went into our forward half he was right there helping out.

His smother and run down the wing in the 3rd which set up Gambles goal was sensational.Topped it off by setting up the first few goals in the 4th.

The dopey Fox commentators said Varcoe,Byrnes and Stokes are fighting for the small forward position.Er...Byrnes and Varcoe haven't played that position recently.They're around the midfield.Gamble is the player in that spot.

I am really seeing now why they though he was deserving of getting the number 5 jumper and why Thompson persisted with him for so long in the seniors.

He is starting to get a little leon Davis 1 hand pickup thing going whilst running at full pace. Also his field kicking is very penetriating and acurate. i am now a believer that he can be a gun line breaking mid in a couple of years. 10 contested touches today shows thats the size and strength he has added is helping in the contests. Very happy with his rise

His balance is superb, he runs full pelt, gets scragged, bounces of people, throws out the don't argue and his center of gravity is always perfect so he can keep going.

Today could have been his ultimate break out game, he was almost unstoppable once he set his mind to something.

How many times was he there in defence intercepting the freo ball/creating a nuisance, go forward and there is he offering more help.
