I cant belive Lovetts was worth three weeks

It's interesting -

This year we've seen Waters get two weeks for something Michael Long got four weeks for.

We've seen Fletcher get a reprimand for something that looked intentional and something he has a record of doing.

Solly getting off, and Lovett getting three weeks for a strike that didn't make Hunter flinch or move.

Surely what Fletch did was worse than what Lovett did?

Disappointing. First he gets dropped, then back in. Then gets a week, then gets off.

He deserves a rest from top flight football. How else will he get the message that he needs to improve?

In a way i am not surpised . Our system has been taken in part from the NRL system. Being a league supporter as well i can tell you that their judiciary system often leaves you wondering WTF is going on.

I think he has got the message. He was very good on Sunday.

He was not very good. 10 possessions, 2 goals is acceptable, maybe you could say it's good, but it's not very good.

I will accept it was very good by his standards.

Two goals from half forward isnt any good? Kept a lot of pressure on the WC backs who didnt get as much run from half back as they usually do.
He can play every week if he kicks two goals from the HFF.

You said he was very good. There's no very about it.

His Champion Data average is 53 and he scored 56 on the weekend, which was 15th best for us and =32nd for both teams.

The only players from Sunday that average less than 53 are Dyson, Reynolds, Peverill and Johns.

His performance was acceptable to good, not very good. And his ranking shows that he is consistently average at best.

solly was very good. the amount of physical pressure he applied without giving away any free kicks was excellent and his work rate was up. he flew the flag for us on sunday and it was by far his best game of the season. the two goals he kicked were a bonus as i am sure he was just put there to put some pressure on them and try and lock the ball in the forward line.

stats dont always reveal everything.

if stats mean nothing, so do your comments. he actually gave away 2 free kicks and he's a serial offender. -4 frees this year, same last year, and in past years, -16, -26, -11, -9, -13, and -7. he's a liability and one of worst performed players.

i reiterate, he was not VERY good. he was acceptable to good. Must be cos we're last our standards have dropped.

sure he kicked two goals, sure he was a physical presence, so what. yes it may have been his best game for the year.

we are carrying passengers which is part of the reason we are cellar dwellars.

he needs to be dropped.

What do u expect, 25 touches and 15 marks ?
from the form he was in about a month ago when everything from his skills to his heart was questioned, it is a very good improvement. Sollys stats have always been pretty meaningless. he could have 15 touches and play a shocker and have 10 and be in the best. the fact of the matter is that essendon had a real dip on sunday and he was one of the instigators. all he can do is keep improving. to drop him now would be an absoloute sin

What are we playing?? HS Fantasy Footy or the real stuff ??
I was one calling for him to be dropped from the side when he was turning it over and playing poorly. The fact is he didnt play poorly on Sunday. If two goals and a great physical presance inst enough for a HFF then what is??
Maybe we need to have more of Andrew (i can turn in circles and put my team mates under imense pressure / i have no vision further than 20 meters in front of me) Welsh scoring over 100 in Champion data stats.
Fact is he played well enough to hold his spot this week. End of story.

tribunal should be replaced by crowd o' meter, if the crowd go 'oehhh' thats couple of weeks or if ppl point at players going at it away from ball then worth a look. a system like this would make it more interesting

True on both accounts. I never said he played poorly on Sunday, I just argue that very good is not the most apt adjective, and yes, he probably has done enough on last week's effort to hold his spot.

The problem is, for so long he has not performed, and that poor form hasn't seen his demotion. How is anyone to get the message if they are carried week after week. Sheedy said no more passengers. He lied. If you play well, you get the plaudits, as some of you are giving Solly now based on one ok performance. So when you don't play well, and over a period of time, then there should be consequences.

At Essendon, I feel that there are no consequences for consistent poor form if you are a "senior" player.

I said a couple of weeks back that solly should play in the forward line. I mean look what a hard nut forward who applys heaps of pressure does to your team. eg Hamil, Chick( who carved us up on the weekend).

JJ and Pev dropped. With Lovett as well probably, together with our customary late changes, I'll expect JJ or Pev back in by Satdy avo.

I think you might be suprised. I reckon he'll stick to his word.

Slattery will come in for Lovett. And the kids will get their opportunites.

3 weeks for Lovett, pretty much a joke. The tribunal system is a joke and has been the last couple of season. Another overhaul is needed.

I agree. Beau Watters almost puts a guy in a wheelchair for life and gets 2 weeks, Andy gets 3 for smacking someone in the face.
