I made a mistake in the math, and when the symbol came up it wasn't the one I looked at. Then when I realised I'd made the mistake, the symbol was the one I should have been looking at!

How do they do that?

Easy to work out.

That symbol is on the numbers:

0, 9, 18, 27, 36, etc - counting by nines.

Of course, if you choose a two digit number, add them together and then minus that number from your original number, that number will fall on a number which has a pettern of "9" in it.

9 is a very, very magical number.

I can't be bothered with maths, so I can't be bothered with this site. Sorry. But this has proved correct with me so far. The number 9 being lucky so far that is. :)

Think of a number between 1 and 10....

From that number, multiply by 9

With your current answer, add the two digits together.

You have 9

There are also some other ones that I know of... One for people who are a bit dumb with maths and don't know their 9 times tables....

If you have a number (let's call it number X) and are asked to multiply that number by 9, simply hold down your X number finger down (starting from your left hand) and then you will have your answer with the fingers remaining.

Example: If you are asked to multiply 4 by 9, you would hold down your "pointer" finger, next to the thumb on your left hand, which represents that "4th" finger, and see that you have 3 fingers left before the "pointer" finger, and 6 fingers left after that, giving you 36.

Cool, huh?

Eh. It's cool and I wish I could do it. But that just sounds too complicated. I'll leave it to you. :D

It's been on a few other threads in the past and was demystified then.Whether x_box_x was the decoder then, i cant say.

I can't say that I recall reading it on the boards before, and I honestly don't know if I have mentioned this on the boards in the past.

To answer DD17's question, I heard it (and saw it) from a cousin about five years ago.
