Who are our tips?

North Hobart by 19: Hobart will push them for 3 quarters but I think North will run it out strongly.

Launceston by 33: Blues look too strong at home, North will be their usual selves.

Devonport by 80: Won't be a horrid thumping first up but it will certainly be a big Devonport win (on the proviso that they do turn up)

South Laun by 8: Could almost hedge your bets each way, think Chuggy's crew will get a tight win.

Clarence by 14: Tight contest expected but the Roo's will overhaul the Pies in a high standard contest.

Nth Hobart 15.16 (106) v Hobart 7.8 (50) - Att: 2,500 at TCA Ground
Launceston 15.11 (101) v Nth Launceston 8.9 (57) - Att: 2,104 at Windsor Park
Burnie Dockers 9.10 (64) v Devonport 9.7 (61) - Att: 2,500 at Devonport Oval (N)

In the TCA game, North Hobart were way, way too good for a very disappointing Hobart.
A crowd of well over 2,000 turned out on a cold, gloomy afternoon and saw right from the opening minutes a stronger and more committed Demon team control the game in every facet.
Hobart had nothing up forward, were continually failing to following the coaches instructions, were incredibly indirect and woefully undisciplined - they gave away 6 fifty metre penalties and had Sam Hall reported a few times from what I saw, Robbie Devine went into the book too in the third quarter for something, not sure what.
New Norfolk recruit Zeb Graham never even turned up to the ground for personal reasons which was a very big talking point up there today.
Street looked good for North Hobart and Ken Hall looks in superb nick, lost heaps of weight and looks fit.
Wasn't a great spectacle for the good crowd, Hobart never gave a yelp all afternoon and with Glenorchy (KGV) and Clarence (TCA) to come, things could get ugly very quickly if they turn out more displays like that.
I thought the umpiring was pedantic and woeful. Extremely over-umpired the entire day, which didn't improve the match as a spectacle either.
North will go along way this season, their new recruits look good and their approach to the game was very thorough professional - something Brer Fox noted in the difference between the two clubs in his post match speech.

Decent crowd building up during the second quarter in the Reserves match.

Robbie Devine went into the book too in the third quarter for something, not sure what.

Can't remember Robbie getting reported, but Jesse Wells was reported by the goal umpire at the city end in the third quarter for giving Jayde Young an elbow. In full view of every single North fan sitting at that end, reckon he's in a bit of strife.

Good win by the senior boys, excited for how they'll go this year.
Streety had his own footy in the first half, my tip for the Tassie Medal. Good to see Marty kick a goal with his first kick as well.

Full Time
South Launceston 13.8 (86) v Lauderdale 12.10 (82) - North Hobart Oval.

Northhawker - I was on the wing in the third quarter talking to a few people and we noticed Robbie snagged a goal right on the line at the Cottage end, after he kicked the goal he had a little scrimmage with the Hobart backman, then the whistle blew and we thought he was getting a second kick, but it went to something up the ground and I noticed one of the umpires turn Robbie around - not sure what it was for - wouldn't get rubbed out I wouldn't think in any case.
Sam Hall will get a couple for belting Clinton Brown though I would say.

Devine put his head against his opponants head (if they call it a head butt id be suprised) I was very close but didnt see the book come out.

Yeah I taped the match off the TV and had a sticky-beek at it tonight, wasn't booked, just the free-kick was paid up in the centre of the ground, got a little lecture from the man in yellow for his trouble.

anyone know why he didn't turn up?

Heard he'd had a blue with his Mrs, dunno how true this is though.

How'd he and Sam Hall end up at Hobart anyway, given New Norfolk is in Glenorchy's zone?

Scores from Todays Glenorchy vs clarence under 18/reserves games

Under 18s

DAMN IT!

ABC Hobart "online" is airing the Rugby League feed from Sydney, not TFL Coverage which I was looking forward to listening to :(

Yeah I heard they busted up.

That's very poor and I'm surprised they've done that (or should I be?)
Cool night here, Clarence 9.4 (58) leading Glenorchy 3.4 (22) at the 14 minute mark of the 2nd Quarter.
The Roos booted seven in a row there, Pud Darcy dragged a few minutes ago, Glenorchy can't find a winning forward and Clarence seem to be getting too many easy goals.
Not a big crowd, allegedly only one gate open and it was a problem getting the people in to the place - around 1,400 there.
Mark Corbett goals for Glenorchy and now Webb goals to reduce the margin to four goals, 9.4 (58) to 5.4 (34).

Sting seemed to be going out of this game for awhile with both sides starting to tire and the Roos still holding a three goal lead midway through the third quarter.
Pies starting to lift a little now, Hunt misses one he should've kicked.
Josh Green races in and drills another for Clarence.
Clarence 11.8 (74) v Glenorchy 7.7 (49) - 24-minute mark, third quarter.

It's all the Roos now. Drury ran hot late in the quarter and it's now a 32-point lead to Clarence at the final change.

Three-quarter time
Clarence 12.9 (81) v Glenorchy 7.7 (49)

Glenorchy down on numbers, only got two available on the bench and look to be out of legs now.
Darcy hardly had a touch all night, the super fit Roos confident of running rampant in the final term to set their season up early.
Aaron French runs in and drills a good goal for Clarence at the 2 minute mark, Josh Green from the restart also has a ping and misses to make the margin 39-points at the 4 minute mark.

Not looking good for the Pies. Clarence were 46-points in front until Bowden kicked a lovely goal for Glenorchy to reduce the margin to 40, then kicked a behind to drop it to 39.
Cameron Thurley bombs from 60m out, shepherded through for a goal to make it 45 points again.
Clarence 15.11 (101) v Glenorchy 8.8 (56)

If this keeps going Hobart might climb off the bottom ;)
Thurley belts another one home.

Clarence 16.12 (108) v Glenorchy 8.8 (56) 15-minutes, final quarter.
Glenorchy now down to 18 men, another player off injured.

Brett Geappen pops another one home for Clarence to make it 52-points again.
Jaye Bowden marks in the pocket, slots a lovely goal, his 4th, to stone silence.

Edit: Darcy snags a goal from his only kick for the night for the Pies.
Injury toll mounting now for both sides.

Clarence 17.13 (115) v Glenorchy 11.8 (74)
24-minutes, final quarter.
