Whoever is successful in the battle for TV rights they must guarrantee live coverage of all Friday night games into Queensland and NSW. The game will not continue to grow without live coverage of these games. You will not get new fans(and even many old ones) sitting up until 1.30am to watch games.

ditto. SBS and ABC have rejected them, so i dont see where they can go. Nine is very 'reactionary' in my opinion. They have no concept of 'developing' shows/events like ten has done for sat night football on hear. I hope that ten ends up with it, they deserve it, after taking a punt on sat night football, then showing a few non brisbane games and then flicking one to eddie mcg and showing us the showdown this year. All of which seems to have worked. Think they deserve to keep the rights, doesnt mean they will of course. In business terms they've been tremendous at growing the brand.

Nine's only option would seem to be 'giving' SBS or ABC the rights for nothing. Neither seem very keen, but then SBS nearly didnt take up the ashes series in the cricket and that seems to have been their big success of the year so who knows what will happen from here. Would make a great doco!
