hey there guys, i have a projection tv and i bought a ps3, i have heard rumours that the ps3 will defenitly damage a projection tv pernamently, is there any truth to this?

and for LCD and Plasmas HD, what does the term supported HD video output: 720p, 1080i, 1080p mean?

Not sure about damaging projection tv's, many plasmas definately have issues with image burn in with games, dunno if the same thing happens with projection TV's. At a guess i'd say it would.

Those numbers however represent the resolution of the TV. The higher the number the better the resolution.

The number (720,1080) represents the number of lines of pixels, ie how many horizontal lines of pixels there is on your TV.

Can't recall what the i and p represent, but the p is better. Not sure why, wiki is your friend.

720, 1080 is the TV's resolution. PS3 can handle 1080, so that's probably what you'll be looking for, if your willing to pay upwards of 2 grand for a TV.

The i stands for interlaced, p stands for progressive scan. Basically refers to the way the image is displayed on the screen. p provides a better and sharper image quality than i.

That solves a bit of the problems with burn in.

One thing it doesn't help tho is the static head up displays evident in many games, in the form of health bars etc.
