Utterly horrific.

A 12-year-old and 15-year-old Dau Akueng were found fatally stabbed on separate streets in Cobblebank, in the city’s west, on Saturday night.

Det Insp Graham Banks said police were searching for up to eight male attackers but he gave few details about the group who were older than the victims.

The attacks were initially believed to be part of a series of targeted attacks, and Banks said it was possible that the groups knew each other. But he said it may also have been a case of mistaken identity.


The 12-year-old was so young he was unlikely to have been a member of a gang, Banks said.

I'd love to see some statistics on how many murders, manslaughters and vehicular homicides in Vic are caused by people on bail. These people go on a non-stop crime spree and with no time in custody to act as a circuit breaker it only ends when someone dies. THEN we lock em up.

I'd imagine that would need some sort of specialised research, but Australia's murder rate was trending down a lot per capita pre covid. I don't think we're in a criminal cesspit some of the media want you to think we are. Sexy headlines sell.

Absolutely laughable. These violent thugs seems to be the ones running the show.

They had a former magistrate Tony Parsons on 3aw earlier in the week and he is so out of touch with the real world, It was quite scary. What a horrible human.

I think they need more Magistrates with a prosecutions back ground rather than a defence background.

I think the law needs to realize that Childrens crime is no longer "petty crime" - it is ultra violent and out of control.

They wanna act like adults and do an adult crime, then treat them as such.

If they are going to let them out on bail, impose a community work order too.

Ie “volunteer” to help in a hospital and witness the medical efforts involved in saving the lives of victims, being present at the hospital morgue to view a ‘gangsta bro’ victim.

If you don’t want to commit to that, stay locked up.

Don’t just give them bail to reoffend.
Educate the kids as part of rehabilitation. Let them see the consequences of the pain they cause.
