I've said it before and I'll say it again, Carey would not make the starting 18 at Port. So why would Port want an aging, injury prone player?

He wasn't in the top 22 players last year, he wouldn't have been in the top 50 players this year and I doubt he will be in the top 100 players next year.

I like the way "We have some players who we can try out at CHB" turns into "We don't need Pavlich", that is a fine example of BS that Crows supporters are known for. Williams isn't getting co cky, you are just talking sh it.

The players Chocco was referring to were Thurstans, Morgan and Bassett who have been 3 of the best tall defenders in the SANFL. IMO Thurstans will eventually become our permanent CHB, he is a great player, but you can't exactly debut him in Rnd 22, going into the finals can you? If Waeklin had got injured (or should I say assaulted?) earlier in the season Thurstans would have played by now.

Pavlich was talking on 6PR tonight and he said "Adelaide seemed far more interested in recruiting Carey than myself so going to Adelaide was never really an option".

That was always the case, the Adelaide supporters who were saying "We will get both" were just fooling themselves. Port was the only side Pav was considering going to, I commend him on his loyalty to Freo, apparently he turned down a better financial offer from Port.

Will be interesting to see if Haselby and Longmuir follow suit.

I will admit i was one of the nasty crows who said we should go for both Carey & Pavlich, why not if you don't try for the top of the mountain why try at all,

OK, Carey may not have been in the leagues best 22 last year, but what you wrote essentially says that he would not get a game in Port's starting 18 because he wasn't in the leagues best 22 last year. Hence it follows that Port's starting 18 must be good enough to be in the leagues starting 22. That leaves a mere 4 places for the elite of the 15 other clubs. If you read my post properly you would see that I said he wasn't in the top 22 last year, wouldn't have been in the top 50 this year and won't be in the top 100 next year.

I did not "essentially" say he wouldn't get into Ports starting 18 because he wasn't in the top 22, if you read a post in it's entirity you would have seen that.

In fact he's probably the best player still goin around in the modern era so to pick him up (at whatever it costs us) is like picking up a rare diamond.

If we get three times more than I expect (Im appy with one season at his best) than gee; "Youd better warm up these CHBs" you speak of.
