Number 1: Mooney's set shot goal from 55 last night. FRUSTRATING! He marked the ball, and did not look for one second like he was going to pass it. He went back full of intent to kick a goal - lo and behold - he shat it in, no worries, from 55 metres. He would get the ball in this position or closer 10 times a game EASILY, only to have him flick the eyes or swing around onto his left foot for a 50/50 pass. I love the way we share the ball around, but Cam, if you can kick the ball that well - freaking do it! The times he misses set shots is when he first looks to dish off and then says 'shit, better kick it myself then'. Focus on the goal, and just do what FF's do and slam it home.

Number 2: Robert Walls is an idiot (O RLY? you say). Did anyone else almost fall off their chair last night when this absolute tool said he wouldn't have Ablett in the votes because he was not accountable for his opponent... Are you SERIOUS!? He is the MOST damaging midfielder in the AFL, I think his opponent should be a little more worried about Gaz getting 10 inside 50's than getting 15 backwards kicks for himself.

It is Gary Ablett's job to be nowhere near his opponent, he wouldn't even know who he is playing on most of the time because frankly, it doesn't matter.

Three things Ryan...

1. Your thread title offers no insight as to what your threads actually about… people with slow internet hate that!

2. Mooney should back himself more, because when he’s lining up from fifty in the Prelim after the siren to win us the game, he wont be able to pass it, while it gives our mids more confidence in hitting him up when he’s further from goal.

3. Walls can be very stubborn. He decided early that Ablett wasn’t being accountable; didn’t deserve votes and consequently stuck with said judgment even though Ablett was easily best on. Typical.

I though the commentary was quite ordinary except in Huddo’s case. Voss needs to work on his articulation of the language… "anythink" is not a word Voss, and stop your bitching about the umpires every game. Rant over.

Sorry matey, but I was actually thinking of those with slow internets when I combined what could have been two threads into one. You were always going to read them both because 'twas posted by me, so really you should be praising my efforts.

You think he's bad now, he's got a couple years a head of him along side Sumich, who's not exactly known for his after dinner speaking.:D

I had to laugh at Walls during the first quarter.

Was about 8 mins in and Selwood came off the bench. Walls comments, "Selwood has just come on, a very handy player to have start on the bench".

He obviously missed the fact that Selwood started in the middle at the start of the game!

Walls is an idiot. Ablett was clearly in the votes from an early stage. If he wasn't, who was?

At one stage in the second quarter too the commentators (Huddo included) started talking very negative about Geelong - we were four goals up at that stage but if you had listened to the commentary and not known the score you would think we were four goals down. I guess they had to do something to try to make it a bit more interesting but still you wonder sometimes about the thinking that goes on in commentary teams.

Not to mention the Hall love-fest. Sure the guy played well but gee, who was he up against?! We had three 2007 All Australian defenders missing!

Four of our best six defenders, including the Pole. That annoyed me too, I guess "Hall has beaten a bloke who has played less than two dozen games and wouldn't normally be in the best 22" doesn't have the same ring as "Barry Hall is back".

Kind of a compliment to the team in a way I guess.

I found myself shouting at Robert Walls more than anything else in the game last night. I think some people in Greenland might not have heard that Tom Harley leads the league in marks from opposition kicks, can you say it again Robert?

How great to hear so many people declare Walls a clown...Ablett not accountable for his man will cost him votes...When you get 30 plus and kick 3 who cares. Walls is a stubborn git who couldn't admit he was wrong at the end of the game. As for Voss how biased was he?? I know he wanted a competitive game but to be continually pointing at errors umpires made against the Swans became a little tedious, he isn't a pinch on Buckley as a special comments person. His 'speaking'...speech is also extermely poor and needs serious work...lucky he can go away at the end of the year

Is Voss scared that these Cats will eventually become better than his Lions?

Sounds like it, imagine, 3 quarter time of a 4th straight Grand Final and we are up Vossy will be down in the rooms pleading with the opposition to win before returning to the commentary box.

Come on Swannies? I know commentators "barrack" for their own teams, but damn its getting ridiculous when its a rival to your own club.

I couldn't work out who Ablett's opponent was either, as everyone else has said though I was just astounded at the space he had. I guess it's a different tactic - if I can't go with him, I'll make him accountable, which would be ok if they were winning it out of the middle.

Of course according to Walls, Ablett is no Chris Judd. Of course though Judd's premiership medallion is contaminated - I hope he reminds him of that.

Surely given some of the retirements/move ons from the game and from coaching we can find someone better than Walls to provide special comments. He's been out of the game too long for a start. Neil Daniher would be better.

I actually thought he (Vossy) said this in jest hoping that Sydney would at last make a game of it. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And hows the Huddo/Quartermain niggling act. A bit of Geelong/Hawthorn prime time bickering going on there. And loving it.
