I am an ambassador of Heath Shaw, but now that he is an elite star of the competition and every youngster knows his name, I shall move on to the man from Sackenham (well, Pakenham, but you get it).

How much of a steal is this guy, picked up a year older than others thanks to new TAC Cup rules, and at pick 63, one of the last in the draft. He came in, in rnd 8 and wasn't our worst, and since then has been brilliant. In rounds 8-14 he would be top 3 in the Gavin Brown Award I would think. His football brain is great.

He certainly has been fantastic, manning up on top quality opponents in the absence of Jimmy and Presti.

I still think Sydney on O'Loughlin was his best performance to date, but today's effort was exemplary. Only the dropped mark deep in the backline to blot his copybook.

A real steal at 63, as you say, where if you can get a player to make your best 22, you've done well. Moneybags could be much better than that.

You talking about his big leap? It was a bloody good leap at the ball, damn courageous too. Had he have marked it, surely would have been mark of the round! I'm loving all the young kids at the moment, very surprising performances they are putting on. I'm very excited about the next few years and onwards for us, as these kids develop we will soon become the team to beat!

He still makes some dogdy decisions when he has time to spot up a player with a kick which shouldn't happen. He's quite calm under pressure which you need, he is an excellent athlete, quick, agile and very hard at it. He actually seems to make better decisions when he is under pressure than he does when he has a lot of time from what I have seen, which is strange. Will be a great third tall defender for us in the future.

He is an exciting talent & his improvement from his first game has been sensational!

Great reader of the play, quick & generally uses the ball well.

At pick 63,the recruiting boys deserve a pat on the back for this one :thumbsu:

Nah, Wakes decided against a 50m clear of opponent Sam Iles to kick across defensive goal to Goldsack, where he fumbled and Milne snapped a goal. It should've been a mark, but Wakes was partly at fault for the decision and the Shane O'Bree u-12 kick.

There was the fumbled mark and one kick that slewed off the side of his boot. But from such an inexperienced kid, you have to expect the odd blue. Have been really delighted with his performance this year. His athleticism and courage have been a highlight. A lot like Maxy, he's absolutely fearless in the air.

Has been sensational as I think he is better suited as a flanker than key position and has been forced to hold down big jobs in the past few weeks with injuries.
Has taken Maxwell's spot in our best 22. Let's remember who MM gave the job to on O'Loughlin and Franklin - he can play 1 on 1 as well as zone off his man. Maxwell is sensational zoning off but gets caned 1 on 1 too often.

Best number 63 draft pick ever. This is where the recruiters show how good they are. Finding talent with the 4th and 5th round draft picks.

Quickly becoming one of my favourite players.

Maxwell is a leader and intimidator on the field though, his presence is what is needed in the black and white. He will always be in our 22 for those reasons and not his ability. That's why it comes down to a tough decision when Jimmy and Presti gain full fitness.

Ive mentioned that I rate him - defensive mindset, great tackler, creates a contest and is very quick. He will get better with his disposal as he matures. Great pick.
