Blaming the coach for a player with a historical tendency for self-destruction returning to that tendency is a bit ridiculous.

Smugness get’s it’s rewards - in this case he gets to take the blame for glossing over previous indiscretions.

Scott’s presser was pretty telling, hey.
The whole player management thing is crazy - where a Coach doesn’t know (I’ll take him at his word it’s not a case of ‘lalalala’). what or why his player hasn’t shown up.

Imo, a player loses all rights to ‘privacy’ and entitlement if they can’t show up for work….at least as far as their employer is concerned.

Stengle is just playing ‘rope a dope’ with his employer, manager and family.

All this goes back to treating drug abuse as a ‘clinical issue’ rather than selfish self-indulgence - and I’m not convinced it works.

Why are the trolls going after Chris Scott when Bailey Smith is right there?

Hope the bikies haven't got their hooks into him, young man going off the rails is pretty sad.

Because ‘the trolls’ remember the behaviours and attitudes of coaches in pressers when they do all they can to avoid playing a straight bat and the rules of engagement are lie, duck and lie again.

Oh and lets not forget the faux indignation and greasy smart arsedness when pressed on an issue.

A bit like some on here really.

He came back from being down and out, had an AA year, won a flag and has now played over 100 games

Seen a lot worse 😃

Hopefully he comes back again but there's still plenty of silverware in the trophy cabinet
Yeah no doubt, but he should be @ his peak now and he's gone MIA. It's a shame, I always liked him.

I know it's obfuscation, my question is why that's a bad thing?

I don't think that the media, public, whatever, have a right to know.

Interestingly, Scott has come out today and said ‘not my role’.

A much clearer stance than the ‘BS-ifacation’ that went on with the Bar incident and Bailey’s misogynistic rant.

Not sure if he’s ditched his PR hack or just knows his hand is played - hopefully he’ll see how the media at the presser ‘folded’ when confronted with honesty and play a straighter bat in future.

It was a far more convincing performance - although he still had a dig at the media ‘as knowing less than anyone’ .

His 2022 season was unreal, culminating in that 81 point drubbing of the constantly-choking Sydney Swans in the Grand Final.

Of course we're all hoping he gets back at some point, but if not thanks for the memories.

Probably time that a club took a stand and sued a player for breach of contract to get wages back and damages. Or clubs have no choice but to not give contracts to players with issues, better to play it safe than burn millions on players who just can't be bothered. Nowhere else in the community would employees be able to just not turn up and get full pay (after using any sick leave entitlements)

Not a chance any club would do that, especially to an indigenous player.

More likely, a quiet settlement and an NDA.
