Interesting that the "rule" for a deliberate behind which cost Broad a goal just last weekend has suddenly become amended to "nothing to see here" when Maynard does exactly the same thing tonight.

Not exactly the same, Sydney players were already within 9m when Maynard got the ball.

But what is the same is that Maynard had the same, if not more, time and space to dispose the ball than Broad did, and if the main reason why Broad was penalised is because of not disposing the ball when he had the time and space to do so (as I've seen many (non-official) sources say), then I don't see what the difference is between the two incidents.

I’d love to have a fist fight with Whately! I’d give him a good old touch up & then foot him up the arse when he was running away! * the umpires the AFL & Geelong. They can chew my arse out I’m done with the corruption. GAGF
Half time GF entertainment.

Halfway through the last quarter yesterday.

After a series of unrewarded tackles, the Tiges got a lucky one on the members side wing. Commentator Matt Hill suggests that it might have been a bit fortunate.

Jack Riewoldt (rightly responds with) - "Well I'm sure Tiges supporters would probably say that it was due"

We've been waiting for this type of comment for 7 years 😁. Richo never had the stomach for it.

i like how jack doesnt give a toss about what he says in the media

I think it was Lyon who carried on about the Papley call.
Always the way,Richmond get a free and that becomes the focus but hide under the carpet our non calls.

See what happens when we get close to normal umpiring?
We win games!
Still alot of pips swallowed by the human beanbags but miles away from their usual rortings.

Imagine the outrage in this thread if Papley got that cheap free at the end instead of Vlastuin. That probqbly saved the game for us.
Countered by the non deliberate call near half time.

I really don't care whether or not this rule exists, or even what it looks like.

But until they start adjudicating it consistently than it's a total farce.

How the Sydney one yesterday was any less deliberate under no pressure than Broad's from Round Nothing bewilders me.

haha yeah cos we're usually so objective like that when it's the other way around.
I think we all agreed that it was there but we all questioned if the rule interpretation would stand for the rest of the season.

Feel for Lynch, bloke gets manhandled, shoved out, blocked, arm chopped every marking contest yet still clunks them. There were a couple of instances late when if his name was McKay or Curnow he definitely would've got frees but alas.

All in all, the umpiring vs the Swans was actually ok. Plenty of missed calls and dodginess, but not horribly one-sided. That's all we're asking for.

Short term memories, remember the game where the Swans player kicked the ball out into the crowd deliberately on the siren and there was no 50m penalty and we lost by under a kick? These commentators are w***ers.

Yep. Chad Warner 2022 at the SCG. Prestia should have got 50 and taken to the goalsquare to get us a draw but they made him kick it from the wing where Warner kicked it into Sydney Harbour 🤪
