Does anyone have a theory as to why are our key backs were being found out 10 metres loose of their apponent the majority of the game? They showed no respect to the opposition forwards.

Dunno why Thursfield didn't just come in for Rance so we'd keep 3 talls and have Bowden giving us some drive. Our defence hadn't been the problem til yesterday, it was the fact our leading goalkicker for the season had kicked about 8.
Nahas is gonna win the Michael Roach Medal on about 22 goals!!!!!!!!

I think the coaching staff were thinking it would be wet so players like Tredrea wouldn't be as dominant as he was.

It wasnt the backmen's issue they did collectively as well as what you'd expect. We got smashed in the clearances in the last 5 mins was the issue, too much fast ball into their forward line. Brogan and Lade won everything toward the end as they did early on also. Hopefully that can improve against Ryder

If I was coach, I'd play Rance, Mcguane and Thursty as talls and Newman, Tambo and Polo every game as our defence. I'd only bring in Moore for injury

Too right dude, you just can't play behind a guy like Tredrea when Port are on and moving the ball quickly. He had a great game and was just allowed too much space to work in, half his goals came from effortless chest marks straight in front of goal 35-40 meters out.

The ball mostly got to Tredrea through Ebert...our KPD's weren't the only problem, our midfield was soundly beaten at times through the game as TT rightly pointed out, and the ball was often funnelled through the Ebert/Raines matchup which cost us numerous times.

Williams played us well as he often does - picks the weakest matchup in defense and exploits it. Have a look back over the years and it's regularly just one or two Port forwards exploiting the weakest matchup. He's cooked Raines' goose twice from two opportunities.

I'm not sure whether Moore's shoulder is right yet and even if it was I'm not sure he'd have the core strength to play shoulder to shoulder with Tredrea.

McGaune made a couple of elementary mistakes like not being goal side when the ball hit the deck and I'm sure those will be pointed out to him through the week. I find those kind of mistakes very disappointing.

Bowden had two 'hero moments' last year, one against Brisbane and one against Port. I'd say he's managed to square things back to his usual level of 'terminal stylish medriocrity' after the games against each of those sides this year.

Not blaming him for the loss - it's a team game - but in 261 games you can count on two hands the number he's been a decisive factor in.
