Mark Williams said on the enws tonight that the side that will be named is not the side that will run out ... whatever that's worth.

How Cochrane makes the 25 is a bigger mystery to me than the pyramids ...

Did he say why? Or is he just being Delphic again?

He just burst out laughing saying "Let me tell you ...". More R P MacMurphy than Delphi ... ;)

Roach is in for Choppy

I reckon that was just Rucci's guess in the teams. He did say in the article in the paper a decision wouldn't be made until this afternoon.

Port Magpies named an extra interchange - maybe Ebert is an outside chance to come back in ... as a small forward ...

Yeah looking likely that Roach is in the side for Choppy.

FFS he has done stuff all at SANFL level since being dropped from the Power side and he is a chance of being rewarded with AFL selection? When he is at Central he cannot get in their midfield rotations with Slade, Bello, Gowans and Healy. WTF is he being considered for? Obviously as a tagger but he cannot tag.

For the record I do not blame Cochrane, it is not his fault that he is not a footballer, I blame the selection panel for picking him.

Crows midfielders would be at the ground now, they obviously cannot wait to get out there knowing that we are playing Cochrane. Who could he tag Roo, Goodwin, Thompson? They must be kidding.

On the other hand it could be a masterstroke from Chocco. Roo standing in the middle and he sees Cochrane jogging towards him, he probably will not be able to stop laughing and perhaps Chocco is hoping that this "joke" works in our favour.

B: Shaun Burgoyne, Darryl Wakelin, Matthew Bishop
HB:Brett Montgomery, Chad Cornes, Michael Wilson
C: Stuart Dew, Kane Cornes, Domenic Cassisi
HF: Josh Mahoney, Warren Tredrea, Danyle Pearce
F: Michael Pettigrew, Damon White, Gavin Wanganeen
Foll: Brendon Lade, Peter Burgoyne, Josh Francou
Interchange: Dean Brogan, Troy Chaplin, Adam Kingsley, Peter Walsh

Emergencies: Stuart Cochrane, Brett Ebert, Steven Salopek

IN: Chaplin
OUT: Pickett (suspended)

This side looks a little top heavy for my liking with Both Chaplin and Bishop. Hopefully Bish does not get through his fitness test and Salopok comes into the mix.

Unfortunately he is named for Glenelg still.

Might even see Chad go on ball.

If Bishop does drop out then I'd expect Ebert to come into the side.

Chaplin replaces Pickett

Teenage key defender Troy Chaplin has been named in the Power’s Showdown team after Byron Pickett was forced out with suspension.

Chaplin was named as Pickett’s replacement on Friday morning. Pickett was named in the team on Thursday night, while the appeal against his two-game ban was still pending.

It is the only change to last week’s team that fought hard to overcome Carlton at the MCG.

Matthew Primus could not be called on for a return as his back injury continues to give him problems.

Matthew Bishop, who injured an ankle in the Carlton win, didn’t train on Wednesday but will have Friday’s session to prove he is fit and can stay in the side.

If not, the Power has three emergencies to choose from: Steven Salopek, Stuart Cochrane, and Brett Ebert who takes Chaplin’s spot as an emergency.

Chaplin last played for the Power in its Round 7 win over the Kangaroos when he had a very impressive 19 disposals from defence. Chad Cornes returned to the team from injury the following week to force Chaplin out of the team but the 19-year-old has maintained good form in Sturt’s defence since then.

The Power trains at AAMI from midday on Friday.

The revised Power 22 is as follows….

B: Shaun Burgoyne, Darryl Wakelin, Matthew Bishop
HB:Brett Montgomery, Chad Cornes, Michael Wilson
C:Stuart Dew, Kane Cornes, Domenic Cassisi
HF: Josh Mahoney, Warren Tredrea, Danyle Pearce
F: Michael Pettigrew, Damon White, Gavin Wanganeen
Foll: Brendon Lade, Peter Burgoyne, Josh Francou
Interchange: Dean Brogan, Troy Chaplin, Adam Kingsley, Peter Walsh

Emergencies: Stuart Cochrane, Brett Ebert, Steven Salopek

IN: Chaplin
OUT: Pickett (suspended)

I called into Port training today.

Bishop trained and looked not too bad. He did spend a bit of time with the medicos but didn't look restricted.
Chad Cornes didn't train. I spoke to Rucci and he said he still may play but is carrying quite a lot of general soreness.
Kingsley looked very sore but is expected to play.

Young Pearce trained extremely well. He's lightning quick and uses the ball well.

Overall I thought training was just average. It was only a quick session but I didn't think many players moved at top pace and there was a little bit of missing easy targets.
