I posted this in the bay with no bites (lol not surprised) but I’m genuinely curious as to whether there’s been a team in VFL/AFL history that's defeated 2 rivals, which had a combined winning record of 38 games or more, 3 times each in the 1 season. Or at least some tips on how to research this peculiar statistic.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Presumably you mean other than Geelong this year? It's a rather specific set of circumstances, so unsurprisingly no.

If one discounts the played three times part, and includes finals

Yep, that's what I thought. I kinda suspected it would have been pretty rare for a team to play 2 of the Top 3 teams in the same year 3 times each, winning in every instance no less.

It was a damn pretty impressive effort from the Geelong boys to pull that off this year, damn proud. :thumbsu:

Thanks for the stat data *Paul*.
