Lets take a look at where this premiership will be won and lost.
ALVIE
Currently on top of the ladder. Looking for top spot which will come down to whoever wins when Alvie meets Irrewarra in round nineteen (barring both sides don't drop a game unexpectedly). Good young side with many young kids playing key position and doing well. Only dropped the one game this year, to warra, but have had many tight encounters. Alvie have been in the position where there top few kids are playing seniors weekly which irrewarra dont have to worry about but the other have stepped up, in particular Danny Allen, Shaun Lenaghan and Dylan Lowe while superstar Chris Hickey has continued his dominance currently atop the goalkicking table. Large central reserve will suit and if alvie drop out of seniors prematurely, under seventeens will benefits from the return of young guns liam mcguane and Ben Lynch.
IRREWARRA BEEAC
Irrewarra with Alvie will fight out top spot and the week off. Benefiting from the strength of their senior side they have use of their best 22 which helps. Jayden 'Pigeon' Bath, first spotted by happys dad, has been a shining light for the bombers this year while matt dunne and brother stephen have also been consistent. Joel Menzies has been there main avenue to goal sitting second on the goal kicking table. Will be looking to put their poor finals form of recent years behind them and challenge for the flag this year.
LORNE
Perhaps the wildcard this year. Will finish in third spot and play the loser of alvie and irrewarra in the first week of finals. Like Alvie, Lorne have players capable of holding a spot in the senior side and harley davies is a premium player that lorne will be hoping to get back. This looks unlikely however as lorne look set to go right through to the last week of finals. Have a good spread of topliners with Brock Beresford and Jack Moriarty being a handy pair up forward. White brothers, kane smartt and hamish powell and mitch lewis all are capable players. Once they get their side settled and get everyone in, they should prove mighty hard to beat, especially if davies does not have senior reponsibilities.
Would imagine these three sides will fight it out with Simpson, otway and south colac battling out the remaining spots. Simpson could be a dangerous side with their senior players back but the top three sides should be a class above. Will be an intriguing finals series with luck playing a big part in proceedings.
