Finally, the press are onto the tame tigers. Last night Wayne Carey led a scathing attack on the Tigers, labellling them sot and the worst team he has seen in years. We know they are re-building etc etc, and yes we have some talented kids (and some not so talented kids) but it is time to stand up. Others in the press are finally getting stuck in, which is exactly what needs to happen. For too long this year we have gone un-noticed and been 'allowed' to get away with poor performances, mainly due to the othet goings on in the football world. The time has come for the team and the club to be well and truly put under the blowtorch, and be exposed for the incompetancies, laziness and selfishness of some of the players, in particular the senior list.

The time has come for the Richmond football "TEAM" to grace the MCG and actually have a red hot go. Enough is enough I say, get out there and DO, DON'T think just DO!

After all it's bloody Collingwood this Friday night, do you need any greater incentive.

That's my rant.

i will bet you that everyone BAR the pathetic senior list will get the blowtorch put on them. Media sets the agenda and what they want is true bloodshed, the type only punt road can dish out not the lame stuff we've seen at melbourne, freo, carlton and essendon. They will try and hit a nerve with the richmond ferals which means they wont focus on the dud seniors bc we all already know they are crap, they will feed us something else.

the senior players need to bleed for the cause like us supporters have been bleeding, instead of playing like cowards and just banking their sizeable pay cheque every week.

If they got other interests like work or charity (ie Bowden), they should immediately stop them for the rest of the season and put in 100% into reviving this club before this sorry season ends.

I heard Martin Pike on sen last night. He lamented his last game in Melbourne for Fitzroy was a belting from Richmond - "of all sides Richmond" he said.

We have zero respect in the football world.

Well put.

Zero respect.

We have absolutely none.

Mark Thompson didn't want to coach us.

Wayne Carey dismissed coming to Punt Rd before he'd even been approached.

Grant Thomas while coaching St. Kilda in a press conference after losing to us said they were the superior side.

Even bums from worse clubs with no identity like Fitzroy are paying out on us.

Our little back pocket Fowler running through man mountain John Nicholls in the first quarter of the 1973 Grand Final seems like some dream rather than what our club used to be about.

I heard that too, sad aint it.....

but thats the reality of our situation and what 25 years of disgrace bring you...

i thought we were at rock bottom 2 years ago. i hope this is rock bottom, because if it gets any worse we wont have a club to barrack for.

HENCE, Roger, why changing coaches now is both pointless and futile.

NO ONE would want the job.

Any potential coach would be saying to themselves it's not up to me to dig them out of the mess they're in.

The last time things were this messy, we were left with a choice between Frawley and Tony Shaw.

Take a few minutes to let those names sink in ................................................................................................................................................................ Frawley and Shaw.

I rate Chris Bond as a coach. Does a great job as an assistant and was one of my fav players of all time in the yellow and black. A real hard nut - something 90% of the current crop lack.

But Bond - and other potential coaches such as McKenna, Longmire, Sumich, Harvey etc. - are in it for the long haul. They have aspirations of being around in five, even 10 years time.

The Richmond job is a shortcut to the grave!!!

No one in their right mind would jump on board as coach now, save for Sheedy, who would be doing it for the wrong reason, to merely prolong his career!

If the words of Pike, Carey and Thomas don't hit home with our players, especially with our so-called leaders, there is really no hope for us.

Didn't Wallace come out and give the senior players a blast after the game?I'm not disputing that they don't deserve it or that the players should avoid scrutiny, but Wayne Carey!

So is this his insightful and shocking observations of the Tiges? Basically repeating what the coach says( and even Grant Thomas it seems) and pointing the finger at a bunch who have only one game for the year

Groundbreaking stuff Wayne. His media career is to be respected like the Tiges are this year.

Whether we agree that Carey is a lame media performer or not it needed to be said and kudos for him having the guts to do it directly down the barrel.

Pity he was cut off when Caroline Wilson asked him to name names. Players, coaches, support staff and fans of the RFC need to be shocked into action.

It's the zero respect that almost hurts the most.
Those of you who are old enough will remember the 70's where Richmond were HATED by everyone because:
We were the Tigers
We were successful
We took no crap
We were tough
We bled for each-other
It was US versus THE REST at all times
Everyone else could not stand it and were jealous and HATED us!

It is pure missery to see & hear the lack of respect that exists for the beloved Tiger jumper and our club.

I hope that now that we finally seem to be totally under the pump we can develop some sort of US versus THEM, everyone thinks we are a joke mindset and kick some arse.

Bring on the media scrutiny I reckon, at least if we aren't winning games or playing well it gives us something to read about!

Here here ......:thumbsu:
All any of us want is for the boys to have a red hot go....play for the jumper..

For me the Tiger blueprint of success has always been about blood, guts and glory. That's why this club is famous, even if it is on the bottom. The last time we had that was with Northey for a few years. They ran thru brick walls and Essendon in that semi final in '95.

What has happened to the passion, the ferocity, the ruthlessness of this club? These players and these coaches don't show any heart. Terry is like a robot saying the same measured crap each week. The players are beaten even before they run out.

I watched a replay of the Geelong match and they were brushed aside with contempt. When a Tiger player actually did a good thing, not 1 team mate gave him a pat on the back. Morale is at an all time low.

I know Sheedy is old, and probably past his best, but I would rather have an old Tiger heart that still burns than the zero guts that we're seeing now.

thats been the case for many many years bar 1 year 1995. The senior group dont have the leadership quality to go encourage a young bloke whether he dos something good or dumb.

example 1 - against essendon I think krak lost the ball edwards picked it up weaved through a couple gave a slick handball to krak who kicked the goal. Did Krak go give him a pat on the a.rse or ruffle his hair, nope he ran straight past him ignoring him to his mates Richo and Petts. What a dog :thumbsd:

example 2 - against Port in adelaide McGuane tried to take on a man inside defensive 50 and got caught with his pants down HTB. Michael Voss's subsequent commentary sums up what happened next:
"There is only one thing worse than letting your team mates down with a poor bit of play, and thats the senior blokes giving a young guy a bake and hanging him out to dry after hes made a mistake, DISGRACEFUL! that not one team mate has gone up to him" That was a truly pathetic and disgusting bit of leadership shown by Bowden especially whose supposed to be the general down back.

says it all really
