I was probably not in the best state on Monday to make a good assessment of the side ;) but does anyone else think we are a bit underdone in the fitness area? Barker, Holland, Rawlings, throw in Hay and Rehn (will he ever be fit?) all seem to be playing well below their real ability. It might take a few weeks before we are playing close to our real potential. To be a fair shot this year I reckon we would need to win at least half of the first 8 games and then give it a real shake in the second half of the year.

Nope we weren't underdone just lost concentration.

Let's hope not.

Personally, I don't think it was a lack of fitness that lost Monday's game. To be fair to the Dees, we got smashed in the midfield most of the day. For mine, White was the most influential player on the park and had us under pressure from the first bounce.

The only thing that stopped the Dees in the third quarter was running into the sun. None of the commentary team mentioned it at the time ... instead we copped "ooohhhhh here come the Hawks" yada yada blaa blaa. We got some momentum and I hoped the quarter would last another 10 minutes. I knew at the 3rd quarter break that the Dees would roll us because we would have to face the same problem they had in the 3rd term ... ie. trying to find targets facing into the sun.

They were too good on the ball and good with their disposal. As per usual, our turnovers were high and the inability to hit a target after doing all the hard work to get the pill was costly. Their conversion rate was excellent and we missed plenty of kickable shots on goal .... Nick Holland should be able to kick the damn thing straight at this stage of his career.

Having said all that, we were minus our best forward and our best defender. With Hay in the side, he picks up Neitz and everyone else moves down one. That would leave Smith on Green (whom he shut down after FINALLY getting the job).

I've marked down next week for a loss, but it should get better from there.

Most of the players you mentioned had a very limited pre-season and didnt play many practice matched which means it will probably take them a couple of weeks to get some match practice and be back to full fitness.

After the game on Monday i went back tot he social club and they interviewed Jon Hay and Sammy Mitchell. Jon Hay said that he probably wont be ready for a couple more weeks yet coz he had a run at training for about 20 minutes during the week and he was knackered

So suzi - are you saying that we still have no concentration???? Couldnt have anything to do with the fact that the guys for one reason or another arent up to par yet, or that we've been totally outclassed two weeks in a row?
