Why am I always replacing these? I wear good quality (apparently) under-attire, yet am constantly heading out to buy more! It's not like they get ripped off me these days (or ever before for that matter), they're not under any particular strain from their contents, I am extremely hygienic, and I sit down in an office most of the day. Is there some sort of conspiracy out there that has the likes of CK, Guess and the likes getting together and making inferior products so I am out every second week buying another couple of pairs of trunks until the next lot get thrown out?

Are you following the washing instructions? Undies should be washed on gentle cycle and dried in the shade. 'Normal' and 'heavy duty' wash cycles; hot water; and/or sunlight won't help your elastic / colour fading / general deterioration regardless of brand.

Just try no undies for a while. I haven't doen this ever, but it may be worth a try. Just make sure you wear a belt
