Never look a gift horse in the mouth , we won't be on top forever.
Our President and most others in the media introduce Dermott Brereton as "5 time day 5 time night" premiership player.
If it's good enough for him its good enough for me.
Such a wanky thing to do. Carlton won one in a spoon year, the cup and comp means nothing, to even refer to it as a final is demeaning to all other finals in all other sports. Robert had it right, it is a practice match - nothing more. (I still hope we win though)
The popular, in fact the only example cited, is Carlton's pre-season grand final wins of 2005 and 2007. The Blues beat West Coast in the first of them, then proceeded to win only four games in the season proper to finish last. Two years later, they dispensed with the Brisbane Lions in the March grand final, and won just four games again, sacking coach Denis Pagan mid-season in the process.
But that oft-recited tale conveniently ignores all the other years when what's happened in March has indeed usually been a very prescient indicator of what would unfold in September. And if the really good teams don't care about the NAB Cup much, how come they keep doing well in it?
The past two NAB Cup grand finals have both been match-ups replicated on preliminary final weekend six months later. The Western Bulldogs' win over St Kilda last March was reversed in September, Geelong the year before crushing Collingwood similarly on both occasions...
Of course I hope we win, but honestly I'd rather win round 1 against Port than this rubbish, it means nothing at all... I just hope we get through the game with no injuries..
Why does it have to be one of the other?
Winning round 1 doesn't mean we must lose tomorrow and vice versa
Am I stressing over it no I'm not, but winning the nab cup won't hinder us come the premiership season
I don't care about it either. If we win I'll be happy, if we lose I'll just shrug my shoulders and get ready for round one.Not saying they're mutually exclusive or anything, but I really don't care that much about tomorrow's outcome.... I'll be happy enough if we win, but round 1 means much more

Ahem. I'll let Rohan Connolly do the talking:-
Etc, etc...
