I like the look of the Hawks salary with Bibby off the books.

What will the lux likely be?

It wont be announced for a week, but what is the likely figure?

The belief is the cap may fall slightly.

2008-9 cap was 58.7mil. It is based on the Basketball Related Income (BRI), so with the economic downturn, guesstimates are it may fall to 57 mil give or take.

The salary cap is based on 51% of BRI
The lux tax is based on 61% of BRI.

I always thought it was 125% of the cap, but anyway.

Larry Coon is a writer for RealGM. I'm reliably told this website is the definitive guide to the NBA Cap

Gee Chicago is looking nice for '10. A drop from $63,881,972 to $26,163,850 although probably will be around $34,000,000 signing Rose and Noah. That keeps a solid Rose, Noah, Deng, Hinrich and Salmons at just $34,000,000. Bit small, which might lead to us resigning Tyrus Thomas for $6,000,000 but plenty of cap space there.

Murphy, Foster, Dunleavy, Ford and Tinsley come off the books in 10/11...that will free up a helluva lot, pity we aren't a FA destination though...but it looks pretty clear we're rebuilding aroung Granger, Rush, Hibbert, Hansborough and whoever we get/keep between now and then (hopefully Jack is one).

Luxury tax is 75 Mil.

Their thinking of keeping the cap the same but raising the lux tax levels. Which is good for the rich teams.

I remember reading it was projected to be $71.15M next year, from memory.

Crappy internet atm, can't do any research. Can anyone confirm?
