Grant Thomas needs to prove himself in my opinion. if any other coach had this group of players they'd already have a flag and would be on the way to a second. i also think that he is mega power hungry

Yeah and if my Grandmother had played centre half forward the lions would still have won 3 flags in a row. It is simple and incorrect for people to continue this ridiculous game of saying that St Kilda would have already won a flag if GT wasn't coach.

St Kilda if one remembers correctly finished stone motherless last in 2000, winning 2 games in one of the worst season's by a team in living memory. In the following years the club continued to turn over it's list in search of the right combination.

Season's of 4, 5, 5 & 1/2, 11 and 17 wins followed as a young group was carefully developed. The club now finds itself neck deep in the running for a top 4 spot (by the way if STKFC finishes top 4 this year GT will become the second coach in the history of the club to record back to back top 4 finishes).

This team has been carefully constructed in an effort to gain sustained success, nothing in the results of the club since 2000 point to anything other than the club moving towards this goal.

The hype around St Kilda has in a lot of ways been undeserved which is why a lot of people may believe we are behind schedule in the quest for the flag, let's look at a few stats:

4 of our backline 6 are under 22
3 of our foward 6 are under 22
Of our midfielders Ackland, Ball & Dal Santo are 22 and under

The STKFC is still a young team on the rise, we are a contender for this years flag, GT has done as good a job with this group as any coach would have done let's cut the guy some slack.

Look, Ill cut him some slack if he settles down and plays his players where they should be played. i was at the essendon game like most of you would have been and that game can only be described a complete shambles. at one point thomas put allan murry down in the back pocket. real smart. and then he put matt maguire, arguably the best chb in the league at the moment, in the forward line. gehrigs only goal that night came form the goal square, of course, grant in turn placed him on the half forward line. goddard moved position every five minutes, to no avail and steven powell, one of the teams less gifted kicks was placed also in the forward line. We lost that game on the back of GT and if we hadnt, we'd be one 8 straight wins and one spot from 2nd place.
