As shown in the second quarter, we can be a quick team. Nearly every player was marking then sprinting, then looking for the option. In the end it was taxing, but there's no reason why we cant do this each week (or do we have to dress the opposition in WCE jumpers)

The second half of the first quarter and the majority of the second quarter was poetry. Pressure, turnover, goal. Loved Schammer and Palmers game. I dont think they were lightening quick, but when the ball was moving as quick as it was, then we definately dont look slow and boring as last week.

When are the players going to get consistant on this?

i hate to rain on the parade but if you realisticly rthink that effort last night was up to scratch then it is going to be a long season.
the fact that the eagles were still in the game at half time is a worry to start off with.
they were downright atrocious and we only just managed to beat them.
yeah sure its good to get a win on the board but we still have a long way to go.

There were some better signs out there yesterday westy. I can't recall the last time Johnno scooped the ball up off the ground one-handed without breaking his stride - he did it yesterday. The Sandilands/Warnock duo will improve as the weeks go on and Palmer is adding a new dimension to the midfield. With McPharin and Solomon back next week, things are definitely looking on the right track. If we could only find another key forward or back to step up, we'd be a whole lot more consistent.

johno's return to form was encouriging, if this fort m continues this may free up mcpharlin to flay up fwd more, although murph is my tip to become our second spearhead up fwd ,he did a bit last night and will only inprove with more game time.
Peaky is a bloke who i was less than impressed with yesterday, but it can not be forgotten that he didnt play much footy last year and with a bit more game time he should improve too,he was busy but his decision making and disposal still let him down.
same goes for schammer ,last night he was good ,not much footy last year either.

This is where I think we should be a little more brutal. One of our biggest problems this year has been our shoddy disposal. We've got guys like Thornton and Head playing in the WAFL who have pretty good disposal skills. I'm not saying if someone has a bad day they should be dropped, but consistent repeat offenders need to be replaced with guys who can use the ball properly. The ones who can't kick will either learn fast, or they'll be looking for somewhere else to play.

still to many clangers (over 60), but your correct in thinking that we looked a lot faster yesterday.

Its mainly parts of the first and second quarters that impressed me. You can forgive the players for the other 2 quarters, because those who have played after its been bucketing for hours know how stuffed you can get.

I think you may find the very soggy heavy track leveled the playing field somewhat

Speaking of Urgency... where are the people saying Mundy doesn't have it?
I am here still and while I admit that both Mundy and Hayden were very good yesterday I also say one swallow doesn't make a summer.
I talk about over the last two years or so not just one game out of three.
I applaud Hayden for the job he did on Wirra but, lets not forget that their first two goals were from Haydens errors.Wirra kicked one himself, and fed another to the LOG(Lynch) I think. But must say he recovered from a bad start and played very well.
Lets see how Mundy goes this week, and the following week, and the following week, and the following week, etc etc etc.
One good game does not make a season.
If by the end of the first round both have had good "games" then I will say so but am still wary of them.
