I can see the psychological appeal of telling yourself this story. You embrace the Big Lie because the truth is uncomfortable i.e. you were conned and Trump tried to subvert the election result. Of course you don't want to admit that. It's understandable.

A lot of the seemingly bizarre, disordered behaviour from maryjames and Crankitup actually emanates from very basic, entirely understandable psychological needs/impulses.
On one hand, there is a need to be noticed and to be acknowledged, and if posting far-fetched claims online delivers that sense of acknowledgement, so be it. People want to be seen.
Conspiracy thinking is also an assertion of autonomy by people who perhaps feel unsettled by a lack of control generally. By simply choosing to believe something, or claiming they do, these people can impose their own meaning on the rest of the world as opposed to vice versa. It gives them a handhold. You can understand the psychological appeal of that if you're otherwise feeling adrift.
And if you're generally a low information person with no real understanding of politics and current affairs but still want to feel involved, how else do you go about it? These conspiracy theories are a quick, easy substitute, essentially a placeholder for real information, while still addressing these psychological needs. It's like a sugar hit for people craving expression but who might otherwise feel they don't have anything worthwhile to say.
It makes sense when you frame it like that. It's all understandable when you consider the psychological needs driving the behaviour.

The Big Lie is that Biden won.
It's obvious that Trump did not lose to Biden who inspired no enthusiasm and whose campaign events had to be halted due to non-attendance. How did Trump lose the election when on December 29, after two months of his heightened demonization following the November 2020 election, he won the annual Gallup survey as America’s most admired person, ending Obama’s 12-year run. According to the official vote count, Trump received 11 million more votes in 2020 than the number he won in 2016 and three times the black support. In 2020 Trump received 8 million more votes than Obama received in 2012 and Hillary received in 2016. It is not possible that this extraordinary performance is a losing one. And this is his official vote count, not his suppressed actual vote.
No sane person believes that such an uninspiring candidate as Biden garnered 81.2 million votes—15.3 million more popular votes than Obama in 2012 and Hillary in 2016. The Obama-Hillary popular vote of 65 to 66 million is the limit of the Democrat vote. But in the six weeks since his death the truth has taken a backseat to the myth of the brutal attack. Democratic Impeachment Managers even brazenly cited the incident - that he was stricken in the head by a fire extinguisher - as fact in pre-trial articles filed February 2 despite already growing doubts.
February 2: CNN report that investigators are ‘vexed’ by a lack of evidence and that medical examiners have found no sign of blunt force trauma.

Official US death toll passes 500,000 and true figure could be 720,000
The official death toll from covid-19 in the US has passed the 500,000 mark. However, there is substantial undercounting and the true death toll could be around 720,000, Andrew Stokes at Boston University in Massachusetts told New Scientist.
The US death toll is the highest of any country in the world. “It’s terrible. It is historic. We haven’t seen anything even close to this for well over a hundred years, since the 1918 pandemic of influenza,” the US president’s chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci told NBC. Brazil is second with nearly 250,000 deaths, followed by Mexico with 180,000, India with 156,000 and the UK with 121,000. Per capita, the UK also has the fourth highest covid-19 death rate in the world.
Case numbers in the US are now declining fast. However, the more transmissible B.1.1.7 variant, first detected in the UK is now spreading, and there are fears it could lead to yet another wave of infections.

Sure, champ. Like I said, it all makes sense when you consider the psychological needs you're trying to address. You want to be involved. You need something to say. But you don't have much information so this stuff is the placeholder.
It's not shocking. It's totally routine and understandable. You're effectively living up to a stereotype once you consider it that way.
