I found the experience to be similar.

I bought tickets to 2x NBA games and 1x NHL game using Stub Hub. With the NHL match, I couldn't receive the tickets via Stub Hub even though I purchased them through that platform. I had to download Vivid Seats and the tickets were available through that.

It wasn't as painful as it sounds. When I purchased the tickets through Stub Hub, I received an email which explained the tickets will be made available through Vivid. It was pretty easy and I even got rewards points through Vivid so it actually worked out well.

Still set to go in February for 6 weeks (my cousin is expecting her 1st child in November) by my oh my i'll be playing super bush bogan dumb with the thicker than thick ocker accent.

Well I am back... Went pretty quick! Was awesome though.

We stayed in times square in NYC and just walking out of the hotel out into mayhem and massive buildings was eye opening and amazing!!

People everywhere til all hours of the night.

"NIGHT CLUBS, COMEDY SHOWS!!! Hey guys come to a COMEDY SHOOOOOW!" hahaha get used to hearing that :p

New York was fricken freezing - we got in and it was -2c and yeah wasnt ready for that hahha

As soon as we got off the plane in NY the shuttle bus driver got in a fight with one of the airport security guys coz he wouldnt move his van - was funny and super racist haha (black guy v Indian guy) the black guy :eek:put his fist through our bus side mirror and was like "suck my d*ck" we were like "ah only in America"

Vegas was brilliant - were there for 8 days but still didnt get everything we wanted to do done so thats another trip for down the track.... Free drinks while gambling was awesome, carrying a beer down the road at 10am was cool - but yeah the food everywhere in US is full of sugar and corn syrup - even the toast tasted sweet - but you get used to it...

Every single place we stayed had a Starbucks in the lobby haha never drank so many coffees ;D

Like someone else said I probably put on a little weight but not that much as we walked everywhere.

San Fran was pretty cool too - only had a couple of days there and it smashed down with rain the whole time but it added to the atmosphere - especially at Alcaltraz - the wind howling through the cells was pretty eerie....

LA is pretty crazy - freeways everywhere - would lvoe to have more time there as we only had 3 days - I want to go to Knotts Berry Farm and 6 flags parks!

Anyway good to be home and looks like the rain followed us from LA to Adelaide haha Now time to save up and organise another trip down the track coz need to have something to look forward to.

haha I took extra time off coz once Im back I have 2 dentist appointments and just wanna chill out - before I went I hardly had a day off leading up to the trip.

bump from 13 years ago!!!

Man this feels like another lifetime ago.

Amazing to see footage of San Fran now and the homelessness and drug problem, very sad.

Time absolutely rockets by!

Book holidays people and enjoy yourself because in a blink you're 13 years down the road and not been out of Australia since.

Arrrggh .... gotta book something... anything lol

Plan to head over next July, not super concerned, most Americans do not really care about politics, was there last year when election was on, and if i had not turned TV on would have not known the election was on. I think one UBER driver the whole trip wanted to talk politics with me. Politely said i'm not into politics and that was the end of it

And given my demographic and age, i doubt i would be someone they are concerned about.

I don’t really agree about Americans and politics but in any event I’d more concerned about being detained or deported tbh

Detained or deported is only happening to a very small %. But yeh that is in the back of my head, but given i am the demographic they are not concerned about i should be ok. Our trip is not fully planned, we are still waiting to see what happens over there in the next few months.

I was there all April, including Cal & they couldn’t have given a shit about politics/trump & as an Aussie they were more than accomodating. The only downside is the dollar & tips expectation but any concerns about deportation/detention is laughable.

I was there in the lead up and on voting day, and only saw election stuff on TV, and they love Aussies over there, all they want to do is chat about Kangaroos and our giant spiders :)

Yep the dollar bites, and tipping is a scam by businesses to have paying customers prop up employee wages. But it is what it is, you can either deal with it or stay home.

I Was there a couple weeks ago, with 2 seperate border entries, absolutely no different entering than the 50+ times over 3 decades previously. Tens of thousands of people enter the US everyday, there’s been a few random cases highlighted in the news (which have prob always happened but we don’t normally hear about)

A friend was held and questioned for hours before being given entry, and they visit the US frequently. I've heard of white Europeans who've been turned around.

US customs may ask to look at your social media accounts.

Yeh totally normal and no different to before 🧐

Nothing has changed. The media love pumping it up. The country is so different to how the Aussie media tries to portray it.
The latest guy not being allowed entry that I saw in the media ran a pretty extreme left blog which the authorities clearly didn't want going to hostile areas, you're never guaranteed entry to the country and it's up to the border officer, so it makes sense.

Honestly 2/3 times I've been to the US I've felt pretty awkward and nervous during my convos with the immigration guys because they do kind of grill you, that's not anything new.

It had the same problem 13 years ago. I actually thought Fisherman's Wharf and Union Square were a lot cleaner on my trip in 2022/23 than in 2012 and 2013.

Total Power
Your thoughts, buddy?
Lol...i have an office in the US, never been questioned before, until last time. I found it weird that they suspected i had something on my phone. Which is none of their business, however, opening my whatsapp was a bit too much. Was i alone? no, i travel to the US 3/4 times a year, mostly for business...never happened to me before.

While vast majority are probably not being questioned, it's weird why some people are singled out? maybe the colour of my skin, maybe looks, maybe the t-shirt i was wearing. Who the hell knows, but considering i have a long term B-1 business visa to the US i found it a bit odd.

Haven't read anything to different to what I read 10-15 years ago about peoples experiences entering the country except now it's just reported in the news weekly.

Just means this time I'll prepare extra to have all my trip details on me when going through Immigration.

Most of the people I've read that have been getting questioned and phones searched seem to be those on work visas ect.
