i want to put all my movies and mp3s on a portable hard drive and be able to use them on my comp and my PS3 but i havent got one yet due to the fact that a friends seagate doesnt work on his PS3. are all of them supposed to work or only some models? is there anybody here that does this?

The best option is get a NAS (network attached storage) box. Personally I have a Western Digital "Mybook World Edition" but there are many others.

Plug the NAS into a wireless router, install Orb on a computer that also connects to the wireless network, connect your playstation to your wireless netowork, enable media serving under network settings...

and enjoy.

Otherwise, format your hard drive so that it is FAT32 and then the ps3 should pick it up no worries.
